Vets for Freedom

I just saw this on Powerline here about Vets For Freedom. This is a group of veterans from Afghanistan and Iraqi Wars. I think they got the right idea from The Swift boat Veterans from Vietnam. They will be storming DC on July 17. We need to support these vets. Call, E-mail or fax your Congressional Representative. Also go over to Hugh Hewitt and contact the chicken hawk Republican Senators.
1) We have the support of numerous other vets organizations -— American Legion, Troops Need You, Gathering of Eagles, Appeal for Courage, Move America Forward, Troop Talk, and more.

2) If we do this right, Iraq and Afghanistan veterans —- and the blog and talk radio communities -- could transform the Iraq war debate, much like they did for immigration. And this event could be a starting point.

3) We need vets to show up -— despite time constraints and financial constraints...it’s too important.


We all should Blog storm next week! Our country needs to win this war. We need to bat down the defeatists Reid and Pelosi! And go to Victory Caucus too. Fight the Fight and Win the War.

Michael Yon on Hugh Hewitt today

I hope this gets to the MSM because the public needs to hear it. We need to expose Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi for the lies they are saying about the surge not working.
HH: Now yesterday, Harry Reid said on the floor of the Senate that the surge has failed. Do you think there’s any factual basis for making that assertion, Michael Yon, from what you’ve seen in Iraq over the last many months?

MY: He’s wrong, he’s wrong. It has absolutely not failed, and in fact, I’m finally willing to say it in public. I feel like it’s starting to succeed. And you know, I’m kind of stretching a little bit, because we haven’t gone too far into it, but I can see it from my travels around, for instance, in Anbar and out here in Diyala Province as well. Baghdad’s still very problematic. But there’s other areas where you can clearly see that there is a positive effect. And the first and foremost thing we have to do is knock down al Qaeda. And with them alienating so many Iraqis, I mean, they’re almost doing it for us. I mean, yeah, it takes military might to finally like wipe them out of Baquba, but it’s working. I mean, I sense that the surge is working. Reid is just wrong.

Don't call it a failure...yet

Despite their unconvincing protests to the contrary, it's painfully obvious liberals just don't believe in our cause in Iraq. Their behavior cannot be explained any other way. They're clearly rooting against, indeed trying to preempt the surge and otherwise thwart our mission.

If they wanted the surge to work, they wouldn't be declaring it a failure prior to the date Commander David Petraeus set for fairly evaluating our progress -- especially considering that many signs are pointing to the surge's success.

Reports coming out of Iraq indicate that our new strategy of rooting out terrorists and holding the areas is working. Evidence is accumulating that even if our homegrown liberals aren't, the Iraqi people are increasingly turning against Al Qaeda, largely because of their brutality. Sectarian violence, for now, is declining.

Please wait for Septembers report. Let our troops complete the mission.

Bush won't pull troops yet....

Bush does not plan any major changes in war strategy despite increased calls from Republican lawmakers to begin a drawdown of U.S. troops in Iraq.

"Congress oughta wait for General Petraeus to come back and give us his assessment before they make any decisions," Bush told the crowd in Cleveland.

In a brief statement earlier there, Bush said, "Troop levels will be decided by our commanders on the ground, not by political figures in Washington, D.C."

Give the troops and General Petraeus a chance.

Another Carrier to the Gulf

MANAMA (Reuters) - The U.S. navy has sent a third aircraft carrier to its Fifth Fleet area of operations, which includes Gulf waters close to Iran, the navy said on Tuesday.

"Enterprise (aircraft carrier) provides navy power to counter the assertive, disruptive and coercive behaviour of some countries, as well as support our soldiers and marines in Iraq and Afghanistan," a U.S. Navy statement said.

The move comes weeks after a flotilla of U.S. warships sailed through the narrowest point in the Gulf to hold exercises off Iran's coast in a major show of force.

Tension over Tehran's nuclear ambitions has raised regional fears of a military confrontation. Recent U.S. naval presence in the Gulf has been the largest since the 2003 Iraq war.

The Fifth Fleet area of operations includes the Arabian Gulf, Arabian Sea, Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, Gulf of Oman and parts of the Indian Ocean.

Ken Johnston Sr., a former test pilot for NASA who said he helped train astronauts during the Apollo era, has now found a new calling in dressing as Dumbledore. The Belen, New Mexico, resident put his alter ego to use when he helped auction a signed copy of a Harry Potter book on his eBay store to benefit a local library. The buyers came down from Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Belen to claim their book, and they were greeted by Johnston in full costume. He was accompanied by a local cub scout dressed as Harry Potter.

He said he has attended past film openings wearing his outfit and was making plans to attend the latest film opening in character.


I was at the World Science Fiction Convention when 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone' won the Hugo for Best Novel. I was not impressed back then. But since reading the books I'm such a big fan. (Got sucked right in.)


At 870 pages, this is JK Rowling's longest book, and by consensus, it's not her best. Director David Yates and screenwriter Michael Goldenberg (Peter Pan) have been more ruthless with the red ink than their predecessors, for which movie fans should certainly be grateful. In fact, at 138 minutes this is the shortest of the Potter movies to date.

I disagree with some of the reviews of The Order of the Phoenix book saying it was not Ms. Rowlings best. On the contrary I've read it the most out of all the 6 books so far I think it is her best.

The Surge and Politics

Over at Blackfive and the politicians talk about failure when it is working!
The whole point of the Surge is to address this particular problem. It is six months in the making, if you count from the start of the buildup. If the politicos in Washington set goals that Iraq could not realize, that is their own fault. It is the fault of those whose goals were set without bothering to take any account of military reality.

We've got people who are risking their lives every day to give Iraq the chance embodied by the Surge. There are 25 million people in Iraq whose lives depend on the outcome. These games in DC and among the press, they are beyond reprehensible. Real lives are at stake here -- better lives than the ones lived by these politicians and journalists.

The troops are doing a great job. A-Q is leaving in droves from the areas our troops are fighting in. Micheal Yon's reports about the A-Q bastards aren't being reported in the MSM. And I'm discussed at the republicans who are dropping their support for the war. We are winning over there. We are loosing the PR war over here. Mr. President get up on your bully pulpit and speak out. The troops need it to continue on with the mission and win the PR war too. Victory is the only way to win.

After that Wookie.....

The Chewbacca impersonator was wanted on suspicion of grabbing the Monroe impersonator's hand and placing it on his groin about four weeks ago, said Sgt. David Torres, spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department's Hollywood Division.

The Monroe look-alike called police on Sunday after complaining of a separate incident that day between the two impersonators, Torres said.

The brown, hairy Wookiee fled just as police arrived at about 12:30 p.m. on Hollywood and Highland boulevards.

Iran's proxy War

Sen. Lieberman statement is correct. Iran has been at war with us since 1979.
The United States government has a responsibility to use all instruments at its disposal to stop these terrorist attacks against our soldiers and allies in Iraq—including keeping open the possibility of using military force against the terrorist infrastructure inside Iran.

Although no one desires a conflict with Iran, the fact is that the Iranian government by its actions has declared war on us. And while I sincerely hope that diplomacy alone can convince the Iranian government to stop these attacks, our diplomatic efforts are only likely to succeed if backed by a credible threat of force.

At the very least, I hope that these latest revelations about Iran’s terrorism in Iraq will prompt some of my colleagues in Congress to reconsider their demand that U.S. forces withdraw from Iraq.

Iran’s purpose in sponsoring these attacks against our soldiers is clear. The Iranian government wants to push the United States out of Iraq. For Congress to mandate a retreat from Iraq will give the Iranians exactly what they want most. A retreat would not only represent a catastrophic defeat for the United States, but an epic victory for Iran, Hezbollah, and the forces of Islamist terrorism.”

Nancy's not too happy with her House!

"I'm not happy with Congress, either," Pelosi, of San Francisco, conceded.

She pinned the blame on "the obstructionism of the Republicans in the United States Senate."

Immigration has joined Iraq, stem cell research, Medicare drug pricing, the 9/11 Commission's recommendations and other promises in the dustbin of the current Congress. Heading into a July Fourth recess after a bruising failure on immigration, Congress has a public approval rating in the mid-20s, lower than Bush's and no better than Republicans' ratings on the eve of their catastrophic election defeat in November, when the GOP lost control of the Senate and the House.

So little has been achieved that Reid threatened to hold the Senate in session during the August recess, the congressional equivalent of torture.


And Uncle Harry's going to slap his children's hands! Shame on you Senators for not passing the Immigration bill when the rest of us (80%) Don't want it. You can't shove it down our throats without the committee hearings and you didn't even have the bill ready for voting on!

Rock thrown at Little girl (Kenny G 's house)

"The 9-year-old girl needed four stitches," said Sheriff's Capt. Thomas Martin of the Malibu/Lost Hills station.

Sheriff's officials said they believe two teenagers on Kenny G's property — neither related to the saxophonist — hurled the objects. But it's unclear what was thrown. Martin said they could have been rocks — or candy and energy bars.

The musician's attorney said Kenny G's wife paid the medical bill for the girl, but he said no rocks were thrown. Instead, the attorney said, Hershey's Kisses and a PowerBar energy bar were thrown.

"I have been informed a PowerBar hit the girl accidentally on the head," said attorney Lee Blackman, who added that the cliffs have signs warning of falling rocks. "It was just an accident."


This story is amazing! A PoweBar or Hersey Kisses thrown at a 9 year old girl from 50 feet caused her to go to the emergency room for 4 stitches! Yeah right, it had to be more of a blunt object than that! Another thing the little girls father is my cousin. I hope she's ok!

Stop the Amnesty Bill Now!

Over at NRO the seven senators who can stop the bill from Cloture here.
The best vote count now has 33 no votes plus the non-vote of the ill Sen. Tim Johnson. Assuming this count is accurate, only seven more are needed to stop amnesty.
Those votes are available from a bipartisan group of senators who say they oppose the amnesty bill. They are Sens. Kit Bond, Sam Brownback, Richard Burr, Thad Cochran, Norm Coleman, John Ensign, and Jim Webb. If any of these senators votes to revive the bill, his professions of opposition to amnesty should no longer be taken seriously. He will have done his crucial bit, when the amnesty bill was most vulnerable, to help shepherd it to passage. We know how senators who claim to oppose amnesty will try to explain away a vote to revive the bill. They will rely on procedural obfuscation: They didn’t want to obstruct the process, they wanted to get a vote on an amendment, etc. But amnesty is staying in the bill — no amendment to strike the bill’s central features has any chance of passage — and it deserves to be obstructed.

The very liberal gals

Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okl, claims he overheard Sens. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, and Barbara Boxer, D-Calf, chatting about how out of control talk radio had become.

"They said we've got to do something about this," Inhofe told a talk radio host. (KFI's John Zigler) "That 'these are nothing but far right wing extremists, we've got to have a balance, there's got to be a legislative fix to this.'"

I'm still waiting for comment from Clinton's and Boxer's offices….but this comes on the heels of a new study by a liberal group (LINK) that claims that in Spring 2007 "of the 257 news/talk stations owned by the top five commercial station owners, 91 percent of the total weekday talk radio programming was conservative."


I'm laughing because the senators who are "liberal gals" (as Sen Inhofe describes them as) are denying they had the conversation. And the one who is running for President is the one who wants to start a conversation! Heh!
"Senator Boxer told me that either her friend Senator Inhofe needs new glasses or he needs to have his hearing checked, because that conversation never happened," says Natalie Ravitz, the communications director for Boxer.

"Jim Inhofe is wrong," says Philippe Reines, Clinton's press secretary. "This supposed conversation never happened - not in his presence or anywhere else."

It is noted that Sen Inofe said this converstation happended three years ago. From Political Punch here.

The truth is the entire nightmare can be traced back to the liberal democratic policies of the leftist Jimmy Carter, who created a firestorm that destabilized our greatest ally in the Muslim world, the shah of Iran, in favor of a religious fanatic, the ayatollah Khomeini.

Carter viewed Khomeini as more of a religious holy man in a grassroots revolution than a founding father of modern terrorism. Carter's ambassador to the UN, Andrew Young, said "Khomeini will eventually be hailed as a saint." Carter's Iranian ambassador, William Sullivan, said, "Khomeini is a Gandhi-like figure." Carter adviser James Bill proclaimed in a Newsweek interview on February 12, 1979 that Khomeini was not a mad mujahid, but a man of "impeccable integrity and honesty."

The shah was terrified of Carter. He told his personal confidant, "Who knows what sort of calamity he [Carter] may unleash on the world?"

I supported the Shah when he was in power. I believed he was secular and allowed his people the freedom of religion and to live their life. I knew an exchange student from Iran when I was in High School. She didn't like the Shah but did not want an Islamic state. She wanted to be free to go were she wanted to and keep the veil off. The Shah allowed that.

Demand Side of Immigration

Terrence P. Jeffery was on Bill Bennett's this morning focuses on the Demand Side immigration. The Kennedy-McCain bill focuses on the supply side of immigration.

There is an Illinois employer that over five years filed 131,991 inaccurate documents with the Internal Revenue Service. That's right: 131,991.

Now, you might think law enforcement would be swarming all over this employer. You would be wrong, however.

You see, the 131,991 false documents were W-2 forms reporting taxes paid on behalf of workers whose names and Social Security Numbers (SSNs) did not match. The Social Security Administration (SSA) inspector general has told Congress that illegal-alien workers are "the primary cause" cause for this type of "non-match" W-2.

According to an October 2004 report by the SSA inspector general ("Employers With the Most Suspended Wage Items in the 5-Year Period 1997 Through 2001"), the Illinois employer with 131,991 "non-match" W-2s was the national champion for that period. But there were other employers in the same league.


If we just enforce the laws on the books we could stop the immigration problem. But those who want to enforce are called "Racists!" They just don't understand they are giving our country away.

Looks like a Proxy war is being planed by Syria via Iran for this summer. How nice Ms. Pelosi went ahead to deal directly with Syria our enemy. I don't have a good feeling that Israel will survive it's 60Th year. Israel is in my prayers. I hope the Spirit of 1967 will happen and Israel will have the strength to get rid of all the Hamas, Hezbollah and Fatah terrorists.

Volunteering for my Daughter's GS troop

On June 1st I went camping with my Daughter's Junior Girl Scout troop. Everything went wrong went wrong! My car overheated, I did not have my tent poles to the tent, I got the flu and was throwing up at camp all day and night. Needless to say, when I got home a few days later the Leader sent me an e-mail saying I was going to be replaced as Co-Leader! Heartless after 4 years of volunteering as Cookie Mom and Co-Leader. I immediately sent an e-mail to all the parents that I resigned because I did not want her to tell the parents that she fired me.

Why? I was not a team player at the camp out and did not help the girls with a badge. Well would you want someone throwing up to make the meals and be contact with the girls and make them sick? My head was aching, I had the chills and I was dizzy so I could not possibly talk to the girls about an Astronomy Badge!

Hopefully my daughter will remain in the troop. It's for the girls not for me or the leader. If I'm the problem then stepping away is the best for all. If she wanted somebody to replace me why not tell me in person?

What the evil leader doesn't know I'm starting up a new Brownie troop for my younger daughter. I have five parents in mind and it is a different council. I bet she'll be livid! Or not who cares! It's for the girls and there's a need for an experienced person to step up to the plate. So evil leader just gave me my wings to fly away. I am free to pursue a great position and be a leader after 4 years of being an assistant leader. The next time I see her I'm going to thank her soooooo much!

The Blues and SF

I'm a fan of the Blue Angles and have been following the controversy at San Francisco Fleet week. The liberal left coast wants to eliminate the Military presence as much as they can. To see the Blue Angels fly by makes them cringe! The liberals want to tell kids that the Blue Angels are war machines and are evil. But I tell you, any kid who sees the performance of the Blue's are astonished! They do amazing things in the air and not a bomb is dropped. It is an art form in it's purest form. I tell my kids we need to keep training pilots to protect us. We need the Military. Without them we are goners. What better PR to have the Angles perform and show that the military is not all bombs, killing, war etc. It is about how we can protect our country and citizens.

My life's been so intense lately

I've been in such a rut for a while. My younger daughter entered Kindergarten this past year and had many battles with the school. When your kids have learning disabilities you have to fight for services. The IEP process is a pain, but when you do it right it really benefits your child. I had to hire an advocate to get all the right things for my little girl. A lawyer is expensive and the school district gets really defensive when you hire a one. Advice to other parents who are in the same situation is to find out your rights, stick to your guns (don't compromise with the district)and get an advocate when things get too complicated. Our advocate smoothed things out and got the district straightened out too. I thank God for his persistence and strength to get me through this time. I know my Daughter will benefit from it. We are keeping her in General Ed with an instructional aide in the classroom. She'll be in first grade in the fall.


My older daughter is in Special Day Class (Special Ed) and we knew she would benefit from it. Its just the school district never lets you know what your options are. Now that I have my younger one all set we want to get my older one into more mainstreaming and then full inclusion in junior high and high school. We have to change schools again but the teacher is very good and will get my older daughter ready for middle school. Her reading has really picked up to three grade levels and next year she'll be on grade level! Her math is still behind but if I can get her to general math (she has + and - but * and / is next) thats ok. If she can reconcile a checking account and handle money that's what she needs to live independently. That's the goal and she is determined to get there.

Just a little background on what's going on in the NavyFamily this spring. I hope to be back in the posting action. The main focus is supporting the troops and their mission and fighting the immigration bill. Hey President Bush why are you stepping on your base? What do you not understand? You're selling us out to the Democrats. Uncle Ted wants to destroy the Republican party. And you're helping him! Now I'm fired up and ready to roll!

Mommy Sheehan is going home

Sheehan is right in that the Media is more focused on American Idol than the war. I watched Fox news yesterday and they were more focused on Lindsey Lohan than the Memorial Day events honoring our solders who sacarficed thier life to defend our country. But she is wrong about the reason why her son died. He died for us, he died for his country, and his flag. She did not fail her son. He did what was right. She might not believe in what he believed in. But he knew what he signed up for when he joined the military.

My Congressman Ed Royce on the Immigration bill

Washington, May 17 - The Senate bill will provide amnesty to those here illegally, no matter how the Senators "spin" the issue. Amnesty failed in 1986, as it prompted a massive increase in illegal immigration with the anticipation of future clemency. Amnesty says that individuals need not respect our laws, it awards people who break the law and flout our sovereignty

The1986 amnesty provided legal status for undocumented aliens already present in the country. It was passed with the promise of tougher enforcement, which was never realized. The law required illegal immigrants to wait, pay a monetary fine, and learn English. Does that sound familiar to today’s backslapping by the Senators and Administration?

Black’s Law Dictionary classifies the 1986 law as an amnesty. Because of that law we saw an immediate spike in illegal immigration. The ‘86 law was touted as the solution to our illegal immigration problem. They were wrong then and they are wrong now. The consequences for this country are potentially catastrophic.

Fort Dix terror plot

This proves we still have terror cells in the US. We have to eradicate these cells. I hope and pray we keep our forces in Iraq and win the war. Victory is our only hope. Once we loose Iraq, the cells here will be embolden and the terror will be fierce. A-Q will take the Iraqi Oil to fund the acts of terror. A democratic Iraq that can defend itself will prevent A-Q from setting up shop. Remember, our troops are fighting for our freedom!
Investigators said the men planned to use AK-47s to storm Fort Dix and open fire on soldiers and civilians stationed at the New Jersey base, noting that other military locations were scouted by the terrorist cell.

Three of the suspects are brothers and are all believed to be Islamic radicals, according to sources. Some of the six arrested men were also born in Albania and the former Yugoslavia, but have spent a significant amount of time living and training in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, according to authorities.



And this cell also planned more attacks in PA. Thank you tipster in NJ! Another plot has been uncovered and exposed. This enemy is evil and will not stop. We have to get them before they get us.

The men - several of whom were in the same family - had videotaped their practice sessions in the Poconos, the source said. That videotape, in which they railed against America, led to their arrests.

The men made the mistake of bringing it to a retail store, seeking to get a copy burned to a DVD, according to one of the sources. A store employee who later watched the tape called the FBI who began immediately investigating.

Where's my Check?

If the typical stay-at-home mother in the United States were paid for her work as a housekeeper, cook and psychologist among other roles, she would earn $138,095 a year, according to research released on Wednesday.

This reflected a 3 percent raise from last year's $134,121, according to Salary.com Inc, Waltham, Massachusetts-based compensation experts.

The 10 jobs listed as comprising a mother's work were housekeeper, cook, day care center teacher, laundry machine operator, van driver, facilities manager, janitor, computer operator, chief executive officer and psychologist, it said.

The typical mother puts in a 92-hour work week, it said, working 40 hours at base pay and 52 hours overtime.

No to Parital Birth Abortions!

I'm glad the Supreme Court upheld the No Partial Birth Abortion law!
The Majority here:
The 5-4 ruling said the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act that Congress passed and President Bush signed into law in 2003 does not violate a woman's constitutional right to an abortion.

The opponents of the act "have not demonstrated that the Act would be unconstitutional in a large fraction of relevant cases," Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote in the majority opinion.

The decision pitted the court's conservatives against its liberals, with President Bush's two appointees, Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito, siding with the majority.

Justices Clarence Thomas and Antonin Scalia also were in the majority.

The Minority here:
"Today's decision is alarming," Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg wrote in dissent. She said the ruling "refuses to take ... seriously" previous Supreme Court decisions on abortion.

Ginsburg said the latest decision "tolerates, indeed applauds, federal intervention to ban nationwide a procedure found necessary and proper in certain cases by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists."

She was joined by Justices Stephen Breyer, David Souter and John Paul Stevens.

I praise the Lord and am thankful for President Bush signing the law for his appointments to the Supreme court, Roberts and Alito! Good work!

God Bless the troops this Easter

From the President's Saturday speech:
One of our greatest blessings as Americans is that we have brave citizens who step forward to defend us. Every man or woman who wears our Nation's uniform is a volunteer, a patriot who has made the noble decision to serve a cause larger than self. This weekend, many of our service men and women are celebrating the holidays far from home. They are separated from their families by great distances, but they are always close in our thoughts. And this Passover and Easter, I ask you to keep them in your prayers.

Our men and women in uniform deserve the gratitude of every American. And from their elected leaders, they deserve something more: the funds, resources, and equipment they need to do their jobs.


Hear that congressional leaders? Give the president a clean bill to sign. The troops need the funds and the American public don't need the pork attached to the bill.

Presidental appointment illegal?

The Recess Appointment of Sam Fox to U.S. ambassador to Belgium was considered illegal by some of the Dems. I laughed so hard. They didn't realize something in the Constitution, Article II Section 2:
Section. 2. The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any Subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.

He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments.

The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session.

Senator Kerry was vocal on the appointment because Mr. Fox gave $50,000 to the Swift Boat Vets in 2004.
"It's sad but not surprising that this White House would abuse the power of the presidency to reward a donor over the objections of the Senate. This nomination was withdrawn because the Administration realized it would lose in the Foreign Relations Committee," Kerry said.

I don't think the President is abusing his power to appointments. If the Senate is out of session, he has the right to do it. My advice to the Senate, NO VACATIONS! Stay in DC and get to work. We need to fund the Troops, get cracking on it! No Pork, No Timetables, No Withdrawal. Win this War for US! (Will they listen? NOT!)
Recognizing Fox did not have enough support for Senate confirmation, Bush withdrew the nomination last week. On Wednesday, with the Senate on a one-week break, the president used his power to make recess appointments to put Fox in the job without Congress' blessing.

Dodd said in a statement that Bush's actions were "deceptive at best and illegal at worst."

White House spokesman Gordon Johndroe defended the use of recess appointments as a presidential prerogative.

"I think the president views recess appointments as an appropriate way to get people who are qualified into jobs that need to be filled," Johndroe said Thursday.

"And it's a process that's been used many times over the years for people whose nominations have lingered or have been stopped for various reasons," he said.

Nancy the dipolmat--Pelosi tells Assad: Israel ready to talk

The Prime Minister's Office issued a rare "clarification" Wednesday that, in gentle diplomatic terms, contradicted US Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's statement in Damascus that she had brought a message from Israel about a willingness to engage in peace talks.

According to the statement, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert emphasized in his meeting with Pelosi on Sunday that "although Israel is interested in peace with Syria, that country continues to be part of the Axis of Evil and a force that encourages terror in the entire Middle East."


Olmert, the statement clarified, told Pelosi that Syria's sincerity about a genuine peace with Israel would be judged by its willingness to "cease its support of terror, cease its sponsoring of the Hamas and Islamic Jihad organizations, refrain from providing weapons to Hizbullah and bringing about the destabilizing of Lebanon, cease its support of terror in Iraq, and relinquish the strategic ties it is building with the extremist regime in Iran."


Nancy wants to Be President! She should run in the election for President and not try to undermine the REAL President and his powers. Remember we have checks and balances on the three bodies of government. She is Speaker of the House, not Queen, not President. And she is so incompetent!

President Ahmadinejad announced the Britons' release after awarding medals to the "brave" border guards who had arrested them.

"I would like to thank the Iranian coast guard for courgeously defending our Iranian territorial waters," he said.

He then pinned medals on the chests of three Coast Guard officers. The ceremony was performed during a press conference broadcast around the world.

Give me a break. They were in Iraqi waters.

No More GWOT?

The House Armed Services Committee is banishing the global war on terror from the 2008 defense budget.

This is not because the war has been won, lost or even called off, but because the committee’s Democratic leadership doesn’t like the phrase.

A memo for the committee staff, circulated March 27, says the 2008 bill and its accompanying explanatory report that will set defense policy should be specific about military operations and “avoid using colloquialisms.”

The “global war on terror,” a phrase first used by President Bush shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the U.S., should not be used, according to the memo. Also banned is the phrase the “long war,” which military officials began using last year as a way of acknowledging that military operations against terrorist states and organizations would not be wrapped up in a few years.

The Dems don't have the patience, the wherewithal and courage to fight the Islamic fascists. Just wait till a shopping center near you gets blown up by a suicide bomber.

-For Graham to have the care he needs and to be able work again
-Thank God for his blessings on my wonderful husband and our marriage

I saw this promo on the Fox News site titled 'Socks, Scissors, Paper: The Sandy Berger Caper'. I missed it last night but it will be on again today.
"I'll spend the rest of my life going to bed at night wondering, ‘Did he take more.’ The American people should go to bed every night wondering if he took more. We'll never know; only Sandy Berger knows," Inspector General of the Archives Paul Brachfeld told Asman.

Brachfeld was the first man to investigate the crime. Like Davis, Brachfeld's main concern is that Berger may have withheld key information about Clinton Administration anti-terror strategy and efforts from the 9/11 Commission. Brachfeld has remained silent for more than two years. But in the program he courageously speaks out on television for the first time.

I'm glad Fox also investigated the National Archives staff and the lax security procedures there.
FOX News also reveals the stunning failure of the Archives — and particularly Presidential Materials Staff Director Nancy Smith — to secure the nation's most sensitive documents.

Among the security breakdowns:

— Smith, the person charged with safeguarding presidential documents, allowed Berger to view the top secret dossiers in her office instead of a secure room known as a SCIF (sensitive compartmentalized information facility) — as required by the CIA.

— Smith, in a serious breach of security protocols, often allowed Berger alone with the documents.

— When Smith and her staff became suspicious that Berger was stealing top secret documents, they did not report their suspicions to authorities, as required by their own rules. Instead, they concocted their own inept sting operation, which they subsequently botched. Brachfeld says that significantly comprised the case against Berger.

A federal judge ordered a former Navy sailor to remain behind bars Friday on charges that he supported terrorism by disclosing secret information about the location of Navy ships and the best ways to attack them.

Hassan Abujihaad, 31, appeared briefly in US District Court in Bridgeport, Connecticut but did not enter a plea or make a statement. He is due to return to court on March 30 for an arraignment.

Abujihaad, an American-born Muslim convert also known as Paul R. Hall, was arrested March 7 in Phoenix, Arizona, where he was apparently working as a delivery man. He was charged with one count of providing material support to terrorists with intent to kill US citizens and one count of disclosing classified information relating to the national defense.

Federal authorities say they recovered e-mails about videos Abujihaad ordered that promoted violent jihad.

Friends said they knew the former sailor was unhappy with American foreign policy but were surprised when he was arrested on charges of supporting terrorism.

Oh yeah! They were really surprised that he would commit treason against the United States of America. I'm glad the guy is in jail. And stay put till he rots in hell!

15 British sailors captured by Iran

The 15 British Navy personnel captured at gunpoint in the Gulf serve on board HMS Cornwall, a Type-22 Broadsword-class frigate.

That vessel arrived in the northern Gulf on 12 March.

On board, Commodore Nick Lambert is commanding the task force on his fourth tour of the region.
The Cornwall was commissioned by Diana, Princess of Wales in 1988.

UPDATE: The captured British sailors are in Tehran now.

The British government says the eight sailors and seven marines were in Iraqi waters. It has called for their immediate release.

The Fars news agency says the group - including one woman - was flown to Iran's capital and arrived in the Iranian capital at 1200 local time.

We hope and pray they will be returned safely. They are NAVY and our brothers and sister (one of the 15 is a woman sailor).

George P will be an Ensign!


FORT WORTH, Texas — George P. Bush, the son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and nephew of President Bush, has been selected as one of 15 prospective ensigns for the Navy Reserves intelligence unit.

Lt. Cmdr. Bill Schroeder of the Navy Reserve Intelligence Command in Fort Worth said Wednesday that once Bush and the other members of the Class of 2007 are sworn in later this year they will go through a two-week officer indoctrination school, a year of Navy basic intelligence training and be assigned to Navy reserve intelligence units close to their homes.

Schroeder said Navy intelligence officers collect and analyze information and provide guidance to help war fighters make decisions critical on the battlefield.

He said Bush, 30, has gotten no special treatment.

"He will be held to the same standards as all of his other shipmates," Schroeder said. "He will go through the same training. He will have the same duties and responsibilities and have to display the same commitment as the rest of his shipmates."

The 15 were selected in February by a panel of Navy officers who considered their qualifications, skills and education.

Attempts to reach Bush, a graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, by telephone Wednesday night were not immediately successful.

The surge is showing results and we want to take power to fight away

And The House is proposing to create legislation to take the Commander-in-Chief's power to fight wars away. From NZ Bear at VC:

The Democratic leadership in the House of Representatives has decided to micro-manage the war effort by loading the funding bill required to authorize continued operations in Iraq with conditions and provisions designed to force the President to retreat and withdraw from the fight.

Check out the PDF of the bill. It is so UNCONSTITUTIONAL to take the CIC powers away. How are we going to fight and protect our country when our President can't protect us? The Moonbats are crazy! When will they realize we need those powers intact to protect OUR Citizens. The Democrats would rather protect the Terrorists of their humanity than the citizens of the United States. Pathetic!

A Democratic plan to require the withdrawal of U.S. combat troops from
Iraq passed its first test in the House Appropriations Committee on Thursday as the panel voted to go ahead, overcoming Republican opposition.

Members voted 37-27 to uphold a provision in a $124 billion war spending legislation that calls for troops to leave Iraq before September 2008, and possibly sooner if the Iraqi government does not meet certain benchmarks. Republicans had proposed stripping out the timetable.

The vote gave Democrats a victory, if only for the moment, in their effort to challenge
President Bush's war policies and pressure him into starting a withdrawal of U.S. troops.

The committee was expected to approve the overall spending bill by later Thursday, but its longer-range fate is dim. In the Senate, minority Republicans can use procedural moves to block the troop withdrawal language and the White House has threatened to veto the bill if it contains the language forcing the removal of troops.
I just hope and pray the Republican senators and Independent Sen. Lieberman stick together and stop the closure of the bill.

Clinton asserted on Tuesday that the conspiracy is alive and well, and cited as proof the Election Day 2002 case of phone jamming in New Hampshire, a case in which two Republican operatives pleaded guilty to criminal charges, and a third was convicted.

"To the New Hampshire Democratic Party's credit, they sued and the trail led all the way to the Republican National Committee," Clinton said.

burden that our fathers, mothers and older
brothers and sisters had to bear.


Jane Fonda is being honored as one of the
"100 Women of the Century."

Unfortunately, many have forgotten and still
countless others have never known how Ms.
Fonda betrayed not only the idea of our country,
but specific men who served and sacrificed
during Vietnam .

The first part of this is from an F-4E pilot

The pilot's name is Jerry Driscoll, a River Rat.



In 1968, the former Commandant of the USAF
Survival School was a POW in Ho Lo Prison
the "Hanoi Hilton."


Dragged from a stinking cesspit of a cell,
cleaned, fed, and dressed in clean PJ's, he was
ordered to describe for a visiting American
"Peace Activist" the "lenient and humane
treatment" he'd received.

He spat at Ms Fonda, was clubbed, and was
dragged away.
During the subsequent beating, he fell forward
on to the camp Commandant 's feet, which
sent that officer berserk.


In 1978, the Air Force Colonel still suffered from
double vision (which permanently ended his
flying career) from the Commandant's frenzied
application of a wooden baton.

From 1963-65, Col. Larry Carrigan was in the
47FW/DO (F-4E's). He spent 6 years in the
"Hanoi Hilton",,, the first three of which his
family only knew he was "missing in action".
His wife lived on faith that he was still alive.
His group, too, got the cleaned-up, fed and
clothed routine in preparation for a
"peace delegation" visit.
They, however, had time and devised a plan to
get word to the world that they were alive
and still survived. Each man secreted a tiny
piece of paper, with his Social Security Number
on it, in the palm of his hand.

When paraded before Ms. Fonda and a
cameraman, she walked the line, shaking each
man's hand and asking little encouraging
snippets like: "Aren't you sorry you bombed
babies?" and "Are you grateful for the humane
treatment from your benevolent captors?"
Believing this HAD to be an act, they each
palmed her their sliver of paper.
She took them all without missing a beat. At the
end of the line and once the camera stopped
rolling, to the shocked disbelief of the POWs,
she turned to the officer in charge and handed
him all the little pieces of paper.


Three men died from the subsequent beatings.
Colonel Carrigan was almost number four
but he survived, which is the only reason we
know of her actions that day.



I was a civilian economic development advisor
in Vietnam , and was captured by the North
Vietnamese communists in South Vietnam in
1968, and held prisoner for over 5 years.



I spent 27 months in solitary confinement; one
year in a cage in Cambodia ; and one year
in a "black box" in Hanoi .
My North Vietnamese captors deliberately
poisoned and murdered a female missionary, a
nurse in a leprosarium in Ban me Thuot, South
Vietnam , whom I buried in the jungle near the
Cambodian border.
At one time, I weighed only about 90 lbs.
(My normal weight is 170 lbs.)

We were Jane Fonda's "war criminals."

When Jane Fonda was in Hanoi , I was asked by
the camp communist political officer if I would
be willing to meet with her.

I said yes, for I wanted to tell her about the real
treatment we POWs received... and how
d ifferent it was from the treatment purported by
the North Vietnamese, and parroted by her as
"humane and lenient."



Because of this, I spent three days on a rocky
floor on my knees, with my arms outstretched
with a large steel weights placed on my hands,
and beaten with a bamboo cane.



I had the opportunity to meet with Jane Fonda
soon after I was released. I asked her
if she would be willing to debate me on TV.
She never did answer me.



These first-hand experiences do not exemplify
someone who should be honored as part
of "100 Years of Great Women."
Lest we forget..." 100 Years of Great Women"
should never include a traitor whose hands are
covered with the blood of so many patriots.



There are few things I have strong visceral
reactions to, but Hanoi Jane's participation in
blatant treason, is one of them.
Please take the time to forward to as many
people as you possibly can.
It will eventually end up on her computer and
she needs to know that we will never forget.

A-Q leader caught at Abu Ghraib

The shadowy leader of the Islamic State of
Iraq, an al-Qaida-inspired group that challenged the authority of Iraq's government, was captured Friday in a raid on the western outskirts of Baghdad, an Iraqi military spokesman said.

Abu Omar al-Baghdadi was arrested along with several other insurgents in a raid in the town of
Abu Ghraib, said Brig. Gen. Qassim al-Moussawi, spokesman for the Baghdad security operation. U.S. officials had no confirmation of the capture and said they were looking into the report.

Al-Moussawi said al-Baghdadi admitted his identity, as did another "of the terrorists" who confirmed "that the one in our hands is al-Baghdadi."

The arrest of al-Baghdadi would be a major victory for U.S. and Iraqi forces in their fight against Sunni insurgents, especially the hardcore religious extremists who have shown no interest in negotiating an end to their struggle.


Time to do the Snoopy Dance again! The Surge is working. The cut and run Democrats are the losers! Victory is ours and we will win this war. God Bless our Troops!

Former US Sailor AQ spy

A former Navy sailor was arrested Wednesday for allegedly releasing classified information that ended up in the hands of a suspected terrorism financier.

Hassan Abujihaad, 31, of Phoenix, is accused in a case that began in Connecticut and followed a suspected terrorist network across the country and into Europe and the Middle East.

He was arrested in Phoenix on charges of supporting terrorism with an intent to kill U.S. citizens and transmitting classified information to unauthorized people.


I hope they convict this guy for TREASON!

Bin Ladden hit?

Only my hopes and dreams come true.....
According to eyewitnesses and local reporters in Kunar province, Coalition forces launched a fierce attack on a small enclave in the village of Mandaghel, approximately 17 miles from the border with Pakistan, on Friday afternoon. Warplanes pounded the positions ; U.S. special forces and Afghan National Army soldiers moved in shortly afterwards.

The assault appeared to meet stiff resistance from militants at the compound. Heavy artillery and gunfire could be heard for hours, local witnesses said . A handful of civilians were reportedly wounded in the strike. Though sealed off from outside access, the area now appears to be under coalition control.

U.S. officials declined to identify who the operation was targeting, but indicated they were after a "High Value Target" (HVT) . Official sources would not rule out that al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden himself was the intended victim. Afghan officials said the target could be another senior ranking al Qaeda leader.
