My Fellow Americans:

Last night, when I spoke with you about the fall of Rome, I knew at that moment that troops of the United States and our Allies were crossing the Channel in another and greater operation. It has come to pass with success thus far.

And so, in this poignant hour, I ask you to join with me in prayer:

Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity.

Lead them straight and true; give strength to their arms, stoutness to their hearts, steadfastness in their faith.

They will need Thy blessings. Their road will be long and hard. For the enemy is strong. He may hurl back our forces. Success may not come with rushing speed, but we shall return again and again; and we know that by Thy grace, and by the righteousness of our cause, our sons will triumph.

They will be sore tried, by night and by day, without rest -- until the victory is won. The darkness will be rent by noise and flame. Men's souls will be shaken with the violences of war.

For these men are lately drawn from the ways of peace. They fight not for the lust of conquest. They fight to end conquest. They fight to liberate. They fight to let justice arise, and tolerance and goodwill among all Thy people. They yearn but for the end of battle, for their return to the haven of home.

Some will never return. Embrace these, Father, and receive them, Thy heroic servants, into Thy kingdom.

And for us at home -- fathers, mothers, children, wives, sisters, and brothers of brave men overseas, whose thoughts and prayers are ever with them -- help us, Almighty God, to rededicate ourselves in renewed faith in Thee in this hour of great sacrifice.

Many people have urged that I call the nation into a single day of special prayer. But because the road is long and the desire is great, I ask that our people devote themselves in a continuance of prayer. As we rise to each new day, and again when each day is spent, let words of prayer be on our lips, invoking Thy help to our efforts.

Give us strength, too -- strength in our daily tasks, to redouble the contributions we make in the physical and the material support of our armed forces.

And let our hearts be stout, to wait out the long travail, to bear sorrows that may come, to impart our courage unto our sons wheresoever they may be.

And, O Lord, give us faith. Give us faith in Thee; faith in our sons; faith in each other; faith in our united crusade. Let not the keeness of our spirit ever be dulled. Let not the impacts of temporary events, of temporal matters of but fleeting moment -- let not these deter us in our unconquerable purpose.

With Thy blessing, we shall prevail over the unholy forces of our enemy. Help us to conquer the apostles of greed and racial arrogances. Lead us to the saving of our country, and with our sister nations into a world unity that will spell a sure peace -- a peace invulnerable to the schemings of unworthy men. And a peace that will let all of men live in freedom, reaping the just rewards of their honest toil.

Obama Muslim comment

His assertion, which is factually inaccurate, comes one day before he is set to deliver a much-anticipated address to the Muslim world from Cairo, Egypt.

Teasing the speech with the French television network Canal Plus, Obama commented"

"Now, the flip side is I think that the United States and the West generally, we have to educate ourselves more effectively on Islam. And one of the points I want to make is, is that if you actually took the number of Muslims Americans, we'd be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world. And so there's got to be a better dialogue and a better understanding between the two peoples."

My worry is he will instill Sharia Law, making our country a land of two laws. We can't do that under the Constitution, we as ONE people are under ONE set of laws. (Equality, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness, etc.) And Sharia law discriminates against women. Won't see NOW complaining either.

Wrongful killing of Abortion Doctor

I have always believed it wrong the murdering of any person, either a baby via abortion or a doctor that aborts babies. I am ashamed of the right over at Free Republic gloating at the murder of a baby killer. A true Cristian denounces the killing of any one. It is one of our ten commandments, "Thou shall not kill." It is wrongful to kill any human, born or un-born.

As a Cristian, I wish the Doctor could have reconciled his sins with God before his death. I pray and hope God will judge his will on this lost soul, as well as his murderer.

George Tiller died from the same philosophy by which he lived. And we in the pro-life movement regret his death as loss even as we regret and mourn the deaths of those tens of thousands of innocent children whom he killed over the last 35 years. We regret his death because we seek the conversion of the soul, the restoration of the person and the recognition of wrongness of ones actions so that reconciliation can occur for that person.

We have seen former abortionists realize the evil they had done and seek the forgiveness of both God and their fellow citizens. Leaders such as Joe Scheidler have reached out for years to those who worked in the abortion industry and have brought them out of the hell they were living. In such remarkable events one finds additional proof of the supremacy of the pro-life perspective over the selfish calloused approach promoted by the abortion proponents.

But let us keep everything in perspective. George Tiller made a living killing babies and harming women. He danced with death every day. Tragically someone with Tiller's mentality thought that he or she could act with the same impunity that Tiller claimed in his actions. And as Fr. Pavone noted, at this point we do not know who acted and for what purpose or motive.

Let this event remind this nation why abortion is ultimately a destructive act for all involved. Let us pray for the end to abortion in our nation and throughout the world.

Fresno, the belly of the beast

Today Prop 8 opposition protest will happen in Fresno where 80% voted in favor of Prop. 8 last November. So they want to go into the "Belly of the Beast." Traditional Marriage has been around for Thousands of years. Our religious backgrounds are founded in the traditions of One man and One Woman marriage. Our family life is focused on raising children. Children need the nurturing of One Mom and of the protection One Dad provides. Anyway, I digress Fresno residents will probably ignore the intrusion and let them say their piece. It is a free county (but going the way to socialism with Obama) and they can *peacefully gather to state their beliefs. Even if they don't understand, we will pray for their understanding. We do not hate gay people. We religious people are not bigots. We believe in traditional family values that have kept civilization together for six thousand years.

*I pray they will peacefully gather instead of the protests that occurred after the November 4th election. Church goers just going to church were harassed and rocks thrown at.

I know who she is and knew her in law school, but I have not followed her career closely and haven't been involved with her socially. At Yale I had a very favorable impression of her. She was very friendly and genuine, but also very serious and dedicated to her work. The thing I admire about her in terms of her career is that she came into a situation where she took full advantage of all the opportunities she had in front of her. Not only did she excel in law school - where she was an editor of the Law Review - but after leaving law school she was a prosecutor, she practiced in a law firm, she was nominated and served as a judge at the district court level, and moved on to the appellate court level. All of those things are to be admired and used as an example of what can happen when an individual is really given an opportunity and chooses to respond and accept the full breadth of responsibilities.

Prop 8 upheld, civil disobedience begins

Activists in the San Francisco Bay area, including several clergy members, said they planned to block the street outside the courthouse and to be arrested in a mass show of civil disobedience if the justices do not invalidate the measure.

"Words are not enough right now. We believe it's time to put our bodies on the line to show that separate is not equal," said Kip Williams, an activist with One Struggle, One Fight, a group that was launched in response to Proposition 8's passage.

This will be a mess for years to come in California. We need to educate the masses about marriage. Gay marriage supporters say it's a civil rights issue. But if we look at it as a behavioral issue, sexual orientation is a behavior. A right is were you can live, work, and go to school. The right of a human being is not denied marriage because marriage is between one man and one woman. A person has a right to marry another person of the opposite sex.

We must put up the shields and stand tall. The opposition is out to cause havoc. We must all be like Miss CA and speak out in support of Marriage as "One man and One Woman." Today is a good day, but we must not give up the fight.

Equal Access to Marriage

It has been argued that gay unions should be acknowledged by the state as marriage. The primary reason given is that of equal access to marriage, that is to say, the freedom to marry. This argument is unclear because everyone is free to marry. Every adult regardless of sexual orientation is free to marry one member of the opposite sex. That is because marriage is exactly that, a civil and religious contract between a man and a woman, “by which the parties engage to live together in mutual affection and fidelity, till death shall separate them.” Nobody is denied access to a marriage contract. So to be honest, in reality, there is no inequality.
In spite of this the argument continues to imagine inequality exists because homosexuals are not free to join in marriage with whoever one wants regardless of sex. But the problem is nobody is free to marry a member of the same sex, because that isn’t what marriage is. The bounds of marriage apply equally to all. Again, there is no inequality.

Prop 8 ruling out Tuesday, May 26

The California Supreme Court says it will issue its long-awaited decision on the validity of the state's same-sex marriage ban on Tuesday.

The high court announced the pending opinion on its website Friday morning.

Justices are considering a series of lawsuits seeking to overturn Proposition 8 as having been put on the November ballot improperly.

The court also will decide whether to allow the estimated 18,000 gay couples who got married in California before the measure passed to stay wed.

Court observers have doubted the Supreme Court would invalidate the ban, which was approved by 52% of the state's voters.

Since the arguments, three states -- Iowa, Maine and Vermont have joined Massachusetts and Connecticut in making same-sex marriage legal.

If we go back to the 9/10 kind of thinking as Obama wants to do, there will be more attacks.

That attack itself was, of course, the most devastating strike in a series of terrorist plots carried out against Americans at home and abroad. In 1993, they bombed the World Trade Center, hoping to bring down the towers with a blast from below. The attacks continued in 1995, with the bombing of U.S. facilities in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; the killing of servicemen at Khobar Towers in 1996; the attack on our embassies in East Africa in 1998; the murder of American sailors on the USS Cole in 2000; and then the hijackings of 9/11, and all the grief and loss we suffered on that day.

Nine-eleven caused everyone to take a serious second look at threats that had been gathering for a while, and enemies whose plans were getting bolder and more sophisticated. Throughout the 90s, America had responded to these attacks, if at all, on an ad hoc basis. The first attack on the World Trade Center was treated as a law enforcement problem, with everything handled after the fact – crime scene, arrests, indictments, convictions, prison sentences, case closed.

That’s how it seemed from a law enforcement perspective, at least – but for the terrorists the case was not closed. For them, it was another offensive strike in their ongoing war against the United States. And it turned their minds to even harder strikes with higher casualties. Nine-eleven made necessary a shift of policy, aimed at a clear strategic threat – what the Congress called “an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States.” From that moment forward, instead of merely preparing to round up the suspects and count up the victims after the next attack, we were determined to prevent attacks in the first place.

NY terror plot

Four men due in court Thursday to face charges of plotting to bomb Jewish sites and shoot down military planes were arrested after planting what they thought were explosive devices near a synagogue and community center, authorities say.

Federal authorities announced the arrests of James Cromitie -- a.k.a "Abdul Rahman," David Williams, Onta Williams and Laguerre Payen, all of Newburgh, on charges arising from a plot to detonate explosives near a synagogue in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, and to shoot military planes located at the New York Air National Guard Base at Stewart Airport in Newburgh with Stinger surface-to-air guided missiles.

The suspects were arrested shortly after planting a mock explosive device in the trunk of a car outside the Riverdale Temple and two mock bombs in the backseat of a car outside the Jewish Center, authorities said.

Meantime, New York City's mayor and police commissioner reassured Bronx worshippers following the revelations that the four men plotted to bomb their Jewish temple.

Mayor Bloomberg and Commissioner Raymond Kelly met privately with congregants Thursday inside the Riverdale Temple. Kelly said neighborhood security was heightened to improve residents' "comfort level."

Kelly reiterated that the men allegedly "wanted to commit Jihad." Bloomberg warned against stereotypes. The mayor stressed that the temple is open to people of all faiths, including a Muslim girl who sometimes prays there.

Officials said the arrests came after a long-running undercover operation that began in Newburgh. Federal authorities tell CBS 2 HD the motive for the attack was revenge over the United States' involvement in Afghanistan.

Cromitie, said to be the leader of the group, is the son of an Afghani immigrant and an African-American woman. It is that connection to Afghanistan, investigators say, and an unhappiness with America's ongoing war efforts abroad that allegedly drove him to become a terrorist.

Republicans need to fight to stop Nationalized Health Care

"Americans will prioritize cost over quality right up until the moment they realize that it's their quality that they are sacrificing," writes the Republican pollster Frank Luntz in "The Language of Healthcare 2009," a brilliant new analysis of the public's health care concerns that also serves as a roadmap for defeating Obamacare. Basing his conclusions on extensive polling and focus-group research, Luntz writes that the public is very worried that a government takeover of health care -- Obamacare -- will result in politicians and government bureaucrats making decisions about what kind of care patients will receive and when they will receive it.

"Nothing else turns people against the government takeover of health care more than the realistic expectation that it will result in delayed and potentially even denied, treatment, procedures and/or medications," Luntz writes. "When asked which was a higher priority -- spending less on health care or being treated in a timely fashion -- timely treatment beat cost almost unanimously."

People know that delayed and sometimes denied care is a way of life in other countries with national health care systems. And when they hear the president's repeated emphasis on cutting costs, they sense that there's no way Obamacare can not result in delayed and denied treatment. Luntz urges Republicans to make that the focus of their challenge to the president's plan. "It is essential that 'deny' and 'denial' enter the conservative lexicon immediately," Luntz writes, "because it is at the core of what scares Americans most about a government takeover of healthcare."

And the most scary part is when your special needs kid is denied therapy or treatment and will be denied a life like a regular kid. Or even die at a young age or at birth because the care was not there. If we have choice the parent will pay for the service if insurance denies payment. But to deny a parent even the choice to get therapy or surgery that will save the life of the child and/or improve the child's life is a crime.

I pay for my daughter's treatment under a Developmental Pediatrician. Insurance does not pay. I don't mind because my husband budgets the money each year to a Medical spending account. And I like to have choice because it benefits my child and other children. Some therapy or treatments are covered and some are not under insurance. But let the parent make the choice instead of the government.

Don't go to Drudge

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts directed employees earlier this month not to log onto the Drudge Report website with government-issued computers due to potential viruses on the site.

In an email message sent May 4, Paul Harvey, an information-technology official for the Boston office, wrote that security specialists with the U.S. Attorney’s Office at the Department of Justice asked them “to reformat/reimage two computers because the user visited the drudgereport.com site.”

“Please avoid the Drudgereport website from the [United States Attorney’s Office] computers,” Harvey wrote.

Harvey said that if employees had a “work related reason to visit the site,” access could be provided off the government network.

Prop 8 overturn scare--False Alarm

One twitter follower read the date to an LA Time article about the California State Surprime court ruling that overturned Prop. 22 (Fall 2000). It was May 16, 2008 and did not get to the '8' in the date. The follower tweeted that Prop 8 was overturned. False Alarm everybody. Insiders of Prop 8 say the CA Supreme court could possibly rule the Friday before Memorial day. ( and I will not name the follower!)

I don't remember if I signed up at Whitehouse.gov while Obama has been President. I believe I signed up when Bush 43 was President. I could be wrong. Anyway, here is the Universal Healthcare letter I got:

It was right to retact the DHS assesment

This is why this report should have not gone out. It was an assessment not an accusation as Ms. Napolitano said. But what if a returning Vet was in a group that opposed Abortion like "Knights of Columbus?" Would that Vet be targeted by DHS? My whole problem with this report is DHS should be focused on groups that are targeting America with terrorist activity. The report did not have any evidence and was not specific on groups that were targeting terror attacks.

Rep. Peter T. King, the ranking Republican on the committee, said the report "made an impression" in his New York district as well.

"I don't think it reflects well on the department, and I know you want to address it," Mr. King said.

David K. Rehbein, commander of the American Legion, said the withdrawal of the report "validates our objections."

"It did not contain any evidence," Mr. Rehbein said. "It was an unfair and unsubstantiated stereotype based on Timothy McVeigh."

The report also said "rightwing extremism" may include groups opposed to abortion and immigration, among several other threat assessments.

Rasmussen Poll on CA special election

Here is the Rasmussen Poll on the Special Election:

Californians will vote next Tuesday on a series of budget-related propositions, and one thing is clear from new Rasmussen Reports telephone polling in the state: Voters aren’t in the mood for tax increases to ease California’s budget woes.

Seventy-three percent (73%) of California voters oppose raising state income taxes to eliminate the budget deficit. Raising the state sales tax is opposed by 69%.

At the same time, 69% favor major cuts in government spending to eliminate the budget deficit. Just 16% oppose the spending cuts.

There is strong support for one concept that will be on the ballot next week. Ninety percent (90%) of voters say legislators should not get a pay raise if they fail to pass a balanced budget. Just five percent (5%) disagree.

In fact, most California voters want to go even further. Seventy percent (70%) believe that if the legislators can’t balance the budget, they should take a significant pay cut.

Polls say "no" in favor for CA 1a-e Yes for 1F

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is hitting the road, warning of dire fiscal consequences if the special election ballot measures don't pass. But a majority of Californians say they prefer to take their chances and vote "no," according to a new poll.

In a Survey USA poll of measures 1A-1F, five of the six initiatives appeared headed to defeat with just a week to go before the election.

A plurality of voters favored one measure -- Proposition 1F -- which would ban pay raises for state elected officials when there is a budget shortfall. Prop 1F was favored by 45 to 35 percent.

The cornerstone of the special election, Proposition 1A, trailed 51 percent to 38 percent, according to the poll. Prop 1A would impose state spending restrictions and a "rainy day" budget fund while triggering $16 billion in extended tax hikes.

The Proposition 1B educational funding measure -- which is pegged to passage of Prop 1A -- trailed 50 percent to 41 percent, according to the poll.

Proposition 1C, would allow $5 billion in borrowing from a revamped state lottery, was by far the least popular measure. It trailed 52 percent to 29 percent and was losing in every geographic region in California.

Majorities also opposed Propositions 1D and 1E. The measures would allow voter-approved funds for child development and mental health programs to be used for other purposes.

The poll of 1,300 California adults -- including 1,096 registered voters -- was conducted May 8-10 on behalf of KABC-TV Los Angeles, KPIX-TV San Francisco, KGTV-TV San Diego and KFSN-TV Fresno.

Throughout our Nation’s history, Americans have come together in moments of great challenge and uncertainty to humble themselves in prayer. In 1775, as the Continental Congress began the task of forging a new Nation, colonists were asked to observe a day of quiet humiliation and prayer. Almost a century later, as the flames of the Civil War burned from north to south, President Lincoln and the Congress once again asked the American people to pray as the fate of their Nation hung in the balance.

It is in that spirit of unity and reflection that we once again designate the first Thursday in May as the National Day of Prayer.

Let us remember those who came before us, and let us each give thanks for the courage and compassion shown by so many in this country and around the world.
On this day of unity and prayer, let us also honor the service and sacrifice of the men and women of the United States Armed Forces. We celebrate their commitment to uphold our highest ideals, and we recognize that it is because of them that we continue to live in a Nation where people of all faiths can worship or not worship according to the dictates of their conscience.

National Day of Prayer on Thursday

The event's evangelical character earned it a White House welcome during President George W. Bush's eight years in office. But Brian Toon, vice chairman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force, says to date, there's been no mention of a White House observance being held this year.

According to an article this past week in the Colorado Springs Gazette, advocacy groups for so-called inclusive dialogue on faith in America are "trying to break what they perceive as the organization's monopoly on the event."

One group that has been leading this and promoting the event with GWB for the past 8 years. But prayer is universal and the White House can still support prayer without any group. The anti-prayer groups such as the left is controlling Mr. Obama's policies and Mr. Obama is staying away. Who knows but he is silent. Prayer is universal and anyone can participate if they choose.

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. Our Task Force is a privately funded organization whose purpose is to encourage participation on the National Day of Prayer. It exists to communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, to create appropriate materials, and to mobilize the Christian community to intercede for America's leaders and its families. The Task Force represents a Judeo Christian expression of the national observance, based on our understanding that this country was birthed in prayer and in reverence for the God of the Bible.

Jack Kemp RIP

In '96 Jack Kemp was the reason why I voted for Bob Dole for president. Reminds me why I voted for John McCain (I voted for Sarah Palin!) I supported his supply-side economics and tax cuts. He was a supporter of Ronald Reagan and a great Conservative. And I admired the former NFL Buffalo Bills Quarterback. RIP and tell Ronnie I said 'Hi.'

What made Kemp different is that he had an original idea of what conservatism could be. The post-Reagan period leading up to the Contract with America was a period of intellectual ferment for the movement. Kemp led the way in advancing a conservative idea that could appeal to non-traditional Republicans, with enterprise zones and school choice lifting more of the poor into the middle class. It was compassionate conservatism -- but actually conservative.

The Republican Party in the '90s then faced many of the demographic problems it does now. Perhaps in contrast to today, there was an actual good-faith attempt made to solve those problems, led by Kemp. Building a GOP that could appeal to urban areas may not have been the most logical next step politically, but it created an ambitiousness in the realm of ideas that we lack today. In the '90s, we were electing Republican mayors in big cities like Rudy Giuliani, Steve Goldsmith, and Bret Schundler who created a model for how conservatives could govern deep in Democratic terrain.

If I stand up for Tradtional Marriage I might be tried for a Hate Crime

The Hate Crime legislation has passed the House and the companion bill is in the Senate:

By a 249-to-175 vote, the House passed the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act today. Among other things, the bill would add gender, gender identity, and sexual orientation to the list of protected categories under federal hate crimes law. A companion bill, the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Prevention Act, has already been introduced in the Senate.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer claims the legislation "does not affect free speech or punish beliefs or thoughts. It only seeks to punish violent acts."

However, what if a Pastor or Pro-Marriage group speaks against Gay Marriage and Homosexual behavior?

Under the hate crimes bill, Lafferty contends a pastor who delivers a sermon denouncing homosexuality or transgenderism could potentially be prosecuted for hate speech.

This bill will constitute hate speech when one feels they are offended by it. What about those who think it is hate when they are called a bigot because they are religious, believe in God and believe Marriage is between One Man and One Woman? The Gay community has shown lots of hate toward the Prop. 8 supporters. Many Prop. 8 supporters have been threatened while going to worship at Church. Many Prop. 8 supporters homes were vandalized for having signs in their yards and their signs stolen. All because they wanted to show their First Amendment rights.

This law is wrong because it states a behavior as a right. (The change of your sex, having sex with who you want, and sexual orientation* are behaviors.) Your rights are violated when you are denied your right to free speech, right to vote, right to work, right to attend school, and church etc. Never has a behavior been a right. I don't get away with a robbing a bank because I felt I wanted to just go and do it. Stealing is a Behavior. I chose to do it or not to do it. And its not a right.

What is sexual orientation?

CA Educational code

Here is the CA educational code 51890 that does state the teaching of "Family health and child development, including the legal and financial aspects and responsibilities of marriage and parenthood" here is the law in full detail.

51890. (a) For the purposes of this chapter, "comprehensive health
education programs" are defined as all educational programs offered
in kindergarten and grades 1 to 12, inclusive, in the public school
system, including in-class and out-of-class activities designed to
ensure that:
(1) Pupils will receive instruction to aid them in making
decisions in matters of personal, family, and community health, to
include the following subjects:
(A) The use of health care services and products.
(B) Mental and emotional health and development.
(C) Drug use and misuse, including the misuse of tobacco and
alcohol.
(D) Family health and child development, including the legal and
financial aspects and responsibilities of marriage and parenthood.
(E) Oral health, vision, and hearing.
(F) Nutrition, which may include related topics such as obesity
and diabetes.
(G) Exercise, rest, and posture.
(H) Diseases and disorders, including sickle cell anemia and
related genetic diseases and disorders.
(I) Environmental health and safety.
(J) Community health.
(2) To the maximum extent possible, the instruction in health is
structured to provide comprehensive education in health that includes
all the subjects in paragraph (1).
(3) The community actively participates in the teaching of health
including classroom participation by practicing professional health
and safety personnel in the community.
(4) Pupils gain appreciation for the importance and value of
lifelong health and the need for each individual to take
responsibility for his or her own health.
(5) School districts may voluntarily provide pupils with
instruction on preventative health care, including obesity and
diabetes prevention through nutrition education.
(b) Health care professionals, health care service plans, health
care providers, and other entities participating in a voluntary
initiative with a school district may not market their services when
undertaking activities related to the initiative. For purposes of

Health care or health education information provided in a brochure or
pamphlet that contains the logo or name of a health care service
plan or health care organization is not considered marketing if
provided in coordination with the voluntary initiative. The
marketing prohibitions contained in this subdivision do not apply to
outreach, application assistance, and enrollment activities relating
to federal, state, or county sponsored health care insurance programs
that are conducted by health care professionals, health care service
plans, health care providers, and other entities if the activities
are conducted in compliance with the statutory, regulatory, and
programmatic guidelines applicable to those programs.



51891. As used in this chapter, "community participation" means the
active participation in the planning, implementation, and evaluation
of comprehensive health education by parents, professional
practicing health care and public safety personnel, and public and
private health care and service agencies.

The supporters of Same-Sex marriage claim that the schools will not teach it at all. But If the legal definition of marriage changes to same-sex is just like opposite-sex marriage it will be taught in the schools. The law states "Pupils will receive instruction to aid them in making decisions in matters of personal, family, and community health." So if we give the child a choice to marry when they grow up to marry a same sex or opposite sex, the law is there to do it. Prop 8 was important to state the 14 words defining marriage between One Man and One Woman. It is the legal definition and our state education code depends on that definition to be taught in the schools.

No Offense (to Gay Marriage)

The supporters of Gay Marriage are in an uproar with Carrie Prejean's NOM ad. ( They're also mad about the boob job she got was paid for by the Miss America pageant!) After reading some of the comments left on the youtube page there were a few ideas I want to point out.

1. The claim that if Marriage is for procreation, then why do some couples don't have children? (Maybe they choose not to or maybe they are infertile)
2. Religion is bigotry. (Really, then MLK was a Bigot too!)
3. Marriage is not taught in the schools. (Wrong, they do teach it. I'll go find the CA Ed Code and have a post on that.)
4. Children don't need a Mom and Dad to be raised. (Last time I checked you need a female and a male to create offspring).

I could go on but I have to go pick up my child (who really likes having a Mom and a Dad!) from school. I will come back to this with more support for Marriage (The Opposite kind that is!). Like Carrie says, "No Offense!"

FOCA on back burner with Obama

“The Freedom of Choice Act is not the highest legislative priority,” Obama told reporters at a prime time news conference marking his 100th day in office. “I believe that women should have the right to choose. But I think that the most important thing we can do to tamp down some of the anger surrounding this issue is to focus on those areas that we can agree on."

President Obama, there is no anger surrounding this issue. It is the right of the unborn we are defending and the rights of the States to decide on the issue.
This is what FOCA will do if it is passed:

This would eradicate state and federal laws that the majority of Americans support, such as:

* Bans on Partial Birth Abortion
* Requirements that women be given information about the risks of getting an abortion
* Only licensed physicians can perform abortions
* Parents must be informed and give consent to their minor daughter's abortion

FOCA would erase these laws and prevent states from enacting similar protective measures in the future.

Fleming told CNSNews.com that he sees President Obama’s request as symbolic of his political agenda for the country.

“I have a concern about the very sharp turn to socialism that’s happening in our government,” Fleming said.

He said the policies the president supports, from “cap and trade” government regulation of carbon emissions to universal health care and nuclear disarmament, is evidence of the country moving toward a European style of socialism, which in turn leads away from religion.

There is a difference between same-sex and opposite-sex marriage

I've seen the 'bigot' term used when one mentions "Traditional Marriage (between a man and a woman). Those who believe such have taken flack for it. But we were raised this way and for a reason. Civilization will not survive without it.

I don't think of myself as optimistic: just realistic. What does losing marriage mean? Public opinion hasn't changed much at all. What's changed is the punishment the gay marriage movement is inflicting on dissenters, which is narrowing the circle of people willing to speak. This is a very powerful movement, no question. Nobody understands that better than I do.

But in the end--and this is not necessarily "optimistic" -I think civilizations that can't hang onto an idea as basic as to make a marriage you need a husband and a wife aren't going to make it in the long haul.

So I'm not worried about the progressive myth that 200 years from now gay marriage will be the new world norm. I'm somewhat more worried about the kind of cultures around the world that might survive. It's not clear to me they'll have the virtues of American civilization for gay people or anyone else.

Really, this marriage idea has been around for a long time. I think it has legs.

Finally there's a third reason I'm not in despair. I've learned from five years in this fight--especially the last two years--that there are many things I can do that make a difference. I was told--by good people who agree with me, really smart people too--that California was impossible; you can't raise the money, nobody cares about marriage, if you get it on the ballot, we'll lose anyway because there's a generational shift. And none of that turned out to be true. Here's the good news: as civilization collapses the opportunities for intelligent and committed people to make a profound difference actually increase.

Maggie Gallagher is right. If we keep supporting Marriage (ie between a man and a woman) and fighting the cultural wars it will become the norm again. Stand up and fight. We are not bigots if we believe that a child needs to be raised by one Mother and one Father. Our faith is not bigoted if it teaches that marriage is between a Man and a Woman. I have mentioned same sex marriage to my 12 year old. Her point of view is this: It is the right of the child to have a Mom and a Dad. She was afraid of Prop. 8 loosing. She wanted it to win because having a Mom and Dad gave her comfort and stability. She worried about the kids who would not have a Mom and Dad.

Swine Flu outbreak at Ft. Dix

An explosive outbreak of febrile respiratory disease raced through the 19,000 personnel at Fort Dix in January 1976. Virological laboratory studies revealed the presence of a new swine influenza strain which was named A/New Jersey/76 (Hsw1N1). The virus infected 230 soldiers and caused severe respiratory disease in 13, including one death.

At the time it was believed that a swine virus had caused the 1918-19 influenza pandemic. Therefore scientists were concerned that the virus had returned to Fort Dix and would soon cause another catastrophic outbreak. Dr. Edwin Kilbourne, a noted influenza researcher, and others convinced the US Public Health Service to contract for the production of 150 million doses of vaccine. In March of 1976 President Gerald Ford announced a program to inoculate every man, woman and child in the United States against swine flu. Immunizations began in October, but only 45 million doses had been distributed when the program was halted in December. By then it was clear that A/New Jersey/76 was going nowhere. An unfortunate consequence was that many individuals developed Guillain-Barré syndrome, a neurological disease involving muscle weakness, paralysis, and sometimes death.

I remember lining up for that vaccine in 1976. I had no after effects but the pandemic that was to occur just stayed at Ft. Dix. And what a mess with the vaccine that killed about 30 people with Guillain-Barre syndrome. Let us hope this one is isolated in Mexico and San Diego.

Tea Bagging terms on the MSM

WE were warned about using the verb "to teabag." Rush said this week he would not mention what the use of the verb "to teabag" was. Here from NB on Scarborough's program on MSNBC:

On Thursday, Scarborough complained, "You look at these huge rallies, and I'm not going to mention names of people on networks that made sexual jokes, childish sexual jokes, about tens of thousands of Americans who went out and wanted to get involved in their government."

The MSNBC host continued, "I mean, it was really middle school jokes being made. I didn't hear those jokes being made when people on the left protested over the past eight years." Earlier in the 6am hour, he offered criticism that, one might assume, would have to be directed at his own network: "But, if a media outlet wants to expose its bias, they can mock tea parties, if they like."

Marriage and Family, the social structure of Civilization

This week was a rough for us who support traditional marriage. With the Vermont legislation and Iowa ruling Homosexual Rights groups are unraveling the traditions that built our civilization.

When one considers the social structure of civilization, family is clearly the foundational unit upon which church and government rest. Families are created and held together by the lifelong commitment of a man and a woman who live cooperatively and raise and nurture the children born to them. Families are the building blocks essential to the formation of a community, and strong social structure arises from the foundation many families provide.

Not only is marriage vital to society, the benefits of marriage for individual adults and children are well-documented. In general, married people live longer, spend less time in the hospital, have higher incomes and enjoy greater emotional support. Children raised by their mother and father are less likely to live in poverty or drop out of school and are more likely to finish college. They are also at lower risk for becoming sexually active in their teen years.

I advocate for traditional Marriage for the purpose of raising children and the family structure it provides. We cannot undermine the social structure of our civilization. Homosexual rights groups want to destroy the traditions that built our country. The family is the basic unit that holds us together. We have a strong community with families that are intact. Break families apart and you create havoc by increasing crime, drug abuse, unwed pregnancy, gang violence, etc. on community by making it a weaker.

Meanwhile, President Obama continued his direct assault on traditional marriage by appointing radical homosexual activist Harry Knox to his Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. Knox, a leader with the far-left Human Rights Campaign, called the Pope a “discredited” leader for opposing homosexual marriage. Upon his appointment, Knox released a statement saying he would work with President Obama to ensure that “government has no place in funding bigotry” (i.e., Christian-based efforts).

The left is placing the term 'bigotry' on any one who opposes gay rights. It is a label that does not apply to traditional marriage and the family structure at all. Civilization was developed by the family and the community it fosters. We as humans will not survive without Traditional Marriage and the family unit. We are not bigots at all.

The Shores of Tripoli by Christopher Hitchens

Newt's tweet brings up the current Pirate situation compared to the Barbary Coast of 1800's. Back then we had to create our Naval forces. Today we have a large Navy and can deal with the situation. But will Obama make the choice to do something? The Shores of Tripoli was an important turning point in US history. From Time Magazine here:

Why I've been harping all week about Traditional Marriage. From NRO here:

Both as a social institution and as a public policy, marriage exists to foster connections between heterosexual sex and the rearing of children within stable households. It is a non-coercive way to channel (heterosexual) desire into civilized patterns of living. State recognition of the marital relationship does not imply devaluation of any other type of relationship, whether friendship or brotherhood. State recognition of those other types of relationships is unnecessary. So too is the governmental recognition of same-sex sexual relationships, committed or otherwise, in a deep sense pointless.

No, we do not expect marriage rates to plummet and illegitimacy rates to skyrocket in these jurisdictions over the next decade. But to the extent same-sex marriage is normalized here, it will be harder for American culture and law to connect marriage and parenthood. That it has already gotten harder over the last few decades is no answer to this concern. In foisting same-sex marriage on Iowa, the state’s supreme court opined in a footnote that the idea that it is best for children to have mothers and fathers married to each other is merely based on “stereotype.”

If worse comes to worst, and the federal courts sweep aside the marriage laws that most Americans still want, then decades from now traditionalists should be ready to brandish that footnote and explain to generations yet unborn: That is why we resisted.

Why is living the "stereotype" so bad? It's Social Engineering by the left again, to make it harder to connect parenthood to raising children. That is why we are not hearing a word about it in the MSM. We just hear about Gay couples rights are not equally protected under the law.

Iowa ruling again

From World Congress of Families Managing Director Larry Jacobs said,

Jacobs commented: “The rationale for this ruling is that limiting marriage to a man and a woman is a violation of equal protection for homosexual couples who want to marry, hence unconstitutional.”

“But if not allowing same-sex couples to marry is unconstitutional, what about a brother and sister, or a man and three women who want to marry? On the basis of today’s ruling, aren’t they also denied equal protection under the law by not being allowed to marry?” Jacobs asked.

“Clearly, the ‘equal protection’ argument is a ruse by a court determined to force its social views on the people of Iowa.” Jacobs charged. “Otherwise, it would have ruled that any two people, or group of people, have an equal-protection right to marry in the state.”

The ruling is the social engineering of the left to impose their beliefs on Iowan society.

The Iowa decision brought about the religion aspect of Marriage here From Christian Today :

“While unexpressed, religious sentiment most likely motivates many, if not most, opponents of same-sex civil marriage and perhaps even shapes the views of those people who may accept gay and lesbian unions but find the notion of same-sex marriage unsettling,” the seven justices said in a summary of their opinion. “Civil marriage must be judged under our constitutional standards of equal protection and not under religious doctrines or the religious views of individual.”

The court said that its desire to protect religious freedom is consistent with preventing government from endorsing any religious view, which opponents found troubling.

“The notion that the only reason one could have an opposition to same-sex marriage is because of religion is pretty preposterous,” said John Eastman, dean of the law school at Chapman University in California. “And to discount religion or to say it’s not a legitimate part of the discourse is not only erroneous but dangerous.”

Why Gay Marriage would be harmful (to children)

Here is an article that talks about why gay marriage is harmful to traditional marriage. I'm focusing on why it is harmful to children and why we haven't heard any of this information in the MSM.

Gay marriage would be bad for children. According to a recent article in Child Trends, "Research clearly demonstrates that family structure matters for children, and the family structure that helps the most is a family headed by two biological parents in a low-conflict marriage." While gay marriage would encourage adoption of children by homosexual couples, which may be preferable to foster care, some lesbian couples want to have children through anonymous sperm donations, which means some children will be created purposely without knowledge of one of their biological parents. Research has also shown that children raised by homosexuals were more dissatisfied with their own gender, suffer a greater rate of molestation within the family, and have homosexual experiences more often.

More support for Tradtional Marriage

First off, the institution of marriage needs to be preserved in its current form, as it is and has been the building block of society for really all of recorded history. Imposing a bit of social engineering on traditional couples is not exactly the most prudent, or the most effective, way of expanding the circle of who can receive certain benefits from the government. And sure, I'm being a little nebulous by saying "building block of society," but it's hard to dispute that despite its relatively high divorce rate in the U.S., married couples are (usually) stable and (usually) produce children (who themselves are usually stable.)

Thus, as society is made up of people (shocker, I know), being able to replace oneself -- and to do so in a controlled fashion -- is a social building block which, I think, is the essence and province of marriage... and a necessary component for a healthy society.

Why Same Sex Marriage is wrong

I found this article on Family Research Council titled "Ten Arguments From Social Science Against Same-Sex 'Marriage'" here. I have posted these before but wanted to revisit the issue. Since the Iowa decision this weekend I wanted to re-iterate the issue why same sex Marriage is wrong. I don't hear any of the counter arguments in the MSM at all. All I hear is Same Sex Marriage is inevitable. I hope it doesn't because the raising of children in a same sex relationship. The evidence is toward raising kids with a Mom and Dad. Also, The welfare of the child is in jeopardy outside a traditional marriage.

And I don't oppose it because of the "ewe" factor. And I do support Domestic Partnerships. I could care less if same sex couples want to have all the rights of a marriage. Just don't call it Marriage. I still believe in the traditional marriage. I have lived one for 15 years and have two kids. My spouse has been very supportive. We could not do it any other way but raise the kids in a traditional way. Does that mean I am a bigot? I don't think so.

If we were asked to design a system for making sure that children's basic needs were met, we would probably come up with something quite similar to the two-parent ideal. Such a design, in theory, would not only ensure that children had access to the time and money of two adults, it also would provide a system of checks and balances that promoted quality parenting. The fact that both parents have a biological connection to the child would increase the likelihood that the parents would identify with the child and be willing to sacrifice for that child, and it would reduce the likelihood that either parent would abuse the child.

Here are the ten points:
1. Children hunger for their biological parents.
2. Children need fathers.
3. Children need mothers.
4. Evidence on parenting by same-sex couples is inadequate.
5. Evidence suggests children raised by homosexuals are more likely to experience gender and sexual disorders.
6. Same-sex "marriage" would undercut the norm of sexual fidelity within marriage.
7. Same-sex "marriage" would further isolate marriage from its procreative purpose.
8. Same-sex "marriage" would further diminish the expectation of paternal commitment.
10. Women and marriage domesticate men.

Let's remember it is the right of the children to be raised by ONE DAD and ONE MOM. And the protection of that child from abuse.

Iowa Same Sex Ruling

Supporters and opponents of gay marriage said Saturday they were energized by the Iowa Supreme Court's forceful and unanimous ruling Friday that a state law limiting marriage to a man and a woman violates the constitutional rights of equal protection. The ruling opens the door for gays and lesbians to exchange vows in Iowa as soon as April 24.

Here we go again. Iowa says we are violating equal rights to limiting marriage to One Man and One Woman. What we need is to say that behavior (sex with either gender) is not a right. Marriage is a contract between One Man and One Woman to procreate and raise a family. Couples of either sex same or different can live together freeley. Their rights are not taken away. Read the 14th Amendment here.

Andy Pugno, general counsel for the Yes on Proposition 8 campaign, said the Iowa decision is not relevant to California.

"Iowa's decision looks almost exactly like last year's narrow decision of the California court when it was interpreting a mere statute in light of constitutional principles," he said. "It is ironic that they would rely on a decision that the voters esssentially reversed."

For over 35 years, we have had an all-volunteer military. This is a good thing. We want people to serve this country who want to be there and who do it of their own free will -- not because they are drafted and forced into it.

We are lucky we have such people. What would we do if no one wanted to serve to defend the freedoms we all enjoy? And so, I feel the need to do what I can to thank them for that service in order to help keep them strong in tough times. You would be amazed at what a simple thank you will do.

We coined that anyone who got dished by Obama as "being thrown under the bus." Now he's throwing special needs kids "under the bus." I know he has apologized. But he has no class at all. Last week it was to make the Veterans who fought and were injured in war to pay for their own medical bills. He backed down when Veteran groups fought back. Don't throw the vets "under the bus." But kids who can't defend themselves, go right "under the bus!" We special needs families are going fight back. I have two ASD daughters. They are really special to me. They both love to be Girl Scouts. And I love to be a brownie leader to the youngest. It's the best thing in the world.

McGruff gets ruffed up!

(AP) - McGruff the crime dog has been roughed up.

D.C. police say the mascot, who urges children to "take a bite out of crime," became a victim Saturday when a bus driver punched him in the face as he handed fliers to children.

Police say the Metro bus driver, 38-year-old Shawn Brim, climbed off the bus, adjusted both sideview mirrors and then swung at Officer Tyrone Hardy, who was dressed as McGruff.

Police say McGruff staggered, children screamed and the bus driver drove off. Officers quickly pulled him over and charged him with assault.

Metro spokeswoman Candace Smith says Brim told a supervisor he was trying "to be funny." Smith says Brim will undergo drug and alcohol testing. His future with the agency is under review.

VATICAN CITY (AP) - Pope Benedict XVI on Wednesday told U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, a Catholic who supports abortion rights, that Catholic politicians have a duty to protect life "at all stages of its development," the Vatican said.

Pelosi is the first top Democrat to meet with Benedict since the election of Barack Obama, who won a majority of the Catholic vote despite differences with the Vatican on abortion.

The Vatican released remarks by the pope to Pelosi, saying Benedict spoke of the church's teaching "on the dignity of human life from conception to natural death." That is an expression often used by the pope when expressing opposition to abortion.

Benedict said all Catholics—especially legislators, jurists and political leaders—should work to create "a just system of laws capable of protecting human life at all stages of its development."

Pelosi could not immediately be reached after the 15-minute meeting, which was closed to reporters and photographers. The two met in a small room of a Vatican auditorium after the pope's weekly public audience.

A number of the bishops in the United States have questioned Pelosi's stance on abortion, particularly her theological defense of her support for abortion rights.

Benedict has cautiously welcomed the new Democratic administration, although several American cardinals have sharply criticized its support of abortion rights in a break from former President George W. Bush.

Pelosi had meetings with Italian leaders the past few days, including Premier Silvio Berlusconi.

Two children limit?

When my oldest daughter was diagnosed with autism I was told by family members not to have more children. I told them to stop butting in my decisions. I told them it was unkind and that I, my husband and GOD would make that decision. When my second was born she too has autism. To me it's no big deal. My kids are normal to me. They do have learning disabilities but we are dealing with it with Resources, Special Ed class, Speech and Occupational Therapy. It is extra work but they are my kids and I love them very much. And If I could I would have more. WE don't need people or government to tell us how many children we can have. And there are people who would rather abort then to bring the child to full term. But to force parents who want kids to abort is a sin. Look at China. I don't think we should go there. Let couples make the decision. God's will should prevail.

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (AP) - The world's most famous groundhog saw his shadow Monday morning, predicting this already long winter will last for six more weeks.

Punxsutawney Phil emerged just after dawn in front of an estimated 13,000 witnesses, many dressed in black-and-gold to celebrate the Pittsburgh Steelers' Super Bowl victory the night before.

"There's significant buzz from the Steelers win and quite a few Terrible Towels floating from the crowd," said Mickey Rowley, deputy secretary for tourism in Pennsylvania.

The annual ritual takes place on Gobbler's Knob, a tiny hill in Punxsutawney, a borough of about 6,100 residents some 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
