Why SSM harms Tradtional Marriage?

From the "Talking Points" on NOM site here:

All I can say is being in a "Tradtional Marriage" has saved my sanity. My husband supports me tremendously. We go to church together as a family each Sunday. Our fath in God keeps us going. We are raising two autistic daughter's who we both are thankful for. WE are blessed.

I don't think I or anyone could raise a family with a same sex partner. Children need both a Female Mother and a Male Father.  Biological parents are the best for rasing children. We are tired of being Labled as Bigots.

What’s the harm from SSM? “How can Adam and Steve hurt your marriage?”

A: “Who gets harmed? The people of this state who lose our right to define marriage as the union of husband and wife, that’s who. That is just not right.”

A: “If courts rule that same-sex marriage is a civil right, then, people like you and me who believe children need moms and dads will be treated like bigots and racists.”

“Religious groups like Catholic Charities or the Salvation Army may lose their tax exemptions, or be denied the use of parks and other public facilities, unless they endorse gay marriage."

“Public schools will teach young children that two men being intimate are just the same as a husband and wife, even when it comes to raising kids.”

“When the idea that children need moms and dads get legally stigmatized as bigotry, the job of parents and faith communities trying to transmit a marriage culture to their kids is going to get a lot harder.”

“One thing is for sure: The people of this state will lose our right to keep marriage as the union of a husband and wife. That’s not right.”

Stop Labling those who believe in Tradtional Marraige

It is widely accepted in all societies that traditional marriage of one man and one woman is by far the best environment for raising children to be well adjusted adults and to raise their own children. Traditional marriage, therefore, is not against something, but "for" the most vulnerable in our society, our children.

The gay community must stop labeling those who disagree with them as bigots and worse, and allow the citizens of Minnesota their right to decide this issue at the ballot box.

Psalm 23

A psalm of David. 2 The LORD is my shepherd; there is nothing I lack.
2
In green pastures you let me graze; to safe waters you lead me;
3
3 you restore my strength. You guide me along the right path for the sake of your name.
4
4 Even when I walk through a dark valley, I fear no harm for you are at my side; your rod and staff give me courage.
5
5 You set a table before me as my enemies watch; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6
6 Only goodness and love will pursue me all the days of my life; I will dwell in the house of the LORD for years to come.

Day One KK getting off Plane

Day 2 & 3 Jamestown/Willamsburg

KK was living history in colonial Jamestown and Revolutionary history in Yorktown. I know she spent money in Williamsburg on souvenirs! Today they will be visiting Monticello and Thomas Jefferson's home. On Monday they will be in DC. I'm following the Expedition History website here. The Parks 8th graders are having the time of their life.

KK is on the bus and on the way to LAX!

Hi folks,
I just wanted to let you all know my Daughter is on her 8th grade DC trip. It's ironic its on the weekend the possible government might shut down. But the Expedition History people assured me they have plan B in place if one venue is closed. (Like the Smithsonian or Capital Building).

Today the 8th grade class is leaving LAX at 7:50 am PDT on United Fl#950. They will arrive at Dulles Airport at 3:39 pm EDT. (12:39 pm PDT).
They will board a bus and travel to Williamsburg VA to visit Jamestown Settlement tomorrow.

Marriage Laws between Man and Woman

Laws that define marriage as only between those couples who are ostensibly capable of procreation help support a culture where couples who procreate are encouraged to marry and/or stay married. Legalized same-sex marriage would gradually remove this cultural connection between procreation and marriage and further, would "institutionalize the idea that children do not need both their mother and their father" (Family Research Council). As I wrote about previously, this will almost certainly result in even more children being raised by single parents.

Missleading Newt's Affairs with Love of Country

“Gingrich was talking about how his love of country contributed to his hard-charging work ethic,” Brody said. “That ultimately led him down a path that was not conducive to a happy family life. But to make the link from “love of country” to the “affairs” is extremely misleading. Furthermore, that isn’t even the headline to the story. How about ‘Gingrich Owns Up to Past Infidelity?’ I have a few more but I have no desire to be an AP headline writer. Then again maybe I should.”

Happy President's Day!

Here is the History.com page on President's Day.

Presidents' Day, celebrated each year on the third Monday in February, is a day when Americans honor the legacies of the U.S. presidents. The holiday was established in 1800, when Congress declared February 22–George Washington's birthday–a federal holiday. Still legally known as Washington's Birthday, Presidents' Day has become a day to honor not only Washington, but Abraham Lincoln, the 16th U.S. president who was born on February 12, and the lives and accomplishments of all U.S. presidents.

John Qunicy Adams--Did not like Slavery

His views were uncommonly humane for the major party politician that in a sense he was. This was a man who rejected the comforting notion that the United States was a classless society; who believed, as did few of his male contemporaries, that women in America were denied the equal opportunities that were their due; who, unlike the slaveholding Jackson, believed that slavery was "the great and foul stain upon the North American Union" and that "the Constitution's protection of slavery was intolerable" and that it should be amended. Like his predecessors in the chief executive's office, he believed that the presidential veto was a potentially despotic power that was to be rarely exercised (in accord with Hamilton's promise to this effect in The Federalist ).

What is Constitutionalism?

From Charles Krauthammer here:
Call it constitutionalism. In essence, constitutionalism is the intellectual counterpart and spiritual progeny of the "originalism" movement in jurisprudence. Judicial "originalists" (led by Antonin Scalia and other notable conservative jurists) insist that legal interpretation be bound by the text of the Constitution as understood by those who wrote it and their contemporaries. Originalism has grown to become the major challenger to the liberal "living Constitution" school, under which high courts are channelers of the spirit of the age, free to create new constitutional principles accordingly.

What originalism is to jurisprudence, constitutionalism is to governance: a call for restraint rooted in constitutional text. Constitutionalism as a political philosophy represents a reformed, self-regulating conservatism that bases its call for minimalist government - for reining in the willfulness of presidents and legislatures - in the words and meaning of the Constitution.

Baker Street

Windin' your way down on Baker Street
Light in your head and dead on your feet
Well another crazy day
You'll drink the night away
And forget about everything
This city desert makes you feel so cold.
It's got so many people but it's got no soul
And it's taking you so long
To find out you were wrong
When you thought it had everything

You used to think that it was so easy
You used to say that it was so easy
But you're tryin'
You're tryin' now
Another year and then you'll be happy
Just one more year and then you'll be happy
But you're cryin'
You're cryin' now

Way down the street there's a lad in his place
He opens the door he's got that look on his face
And he asks you where you've been
You tell him who you've seen
And you talk about anything

He's got this dream about buyin' some land
He's gonna give up the booze and the one night stands
And then he'll settle down there's a quiet little town
And forget about everything

But you know he'll always keep movin'
You know he's never gonna stop movin
Cus he's rollin'
He's the rollin' stone

And when you wake up it's a new mornin'
The sun is shinin' it's a new morning
You're goin'
You're goin' home.

RIP Gerry Rafferty

Bridges in San Pedro and Long Beach

When I was a small child I would travel with my parents in car to Terminal Island, San Pedro and Long Beach. I remember going on the Terminal Island Ferry one last time. In 1963 the Vincent Thomas Bridge was completed. Then in November 1963 I remember taking the trip over Terminal Island from San Pedro to Long Beach on the Vincent Thomas Bridge.

The Gerald Desmond Bridge was build and completed in 1968. They will replace the bridge by 2016 and by building the replacement side by side.

Another Bridge I remember is Henry Ford Bridge. It goes over the Cerritos Channel to Terminal Island. The original bridge (Draw Bridge) was build in 1924. It was replaced by a lift type in 1996. I remember when ships were passing the bridge would raise up and let the them pass though. Kind of neat!

Hugh Hewitt: Time to rebuke the radical Democrats | Washington Examiner

The defeat on Nov. 2 will have to be so large as to mock the president's "foreign money" narrative and to silence Pelosi's already wild ramblings.

It will have to be so large and so threatening that the Senate Democrats look past both Obama's agent Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., and the hard-left Schumer to a new face, voice and approach even as House Democrats push aside all the remnants of the gang that led them back into the political wilderness after four short years because they imposed San Francisco economics on an unwilling nation.

The country needs to deliver a crushing blow to the Democrats, and many Democrats will be cheering that very thing on the night of 11/2.

Election Weather Report--Forecast not good for Dems!

When rain is forecast in the Mid-West the Dems stay home. Weather report here.

I remember 2004, it rained all over Ohio and that state was the bell winner for Bush.

In more bad news for Democrats, rain is in the forecast for much of the country on Election Day.

Weather tracking websites, including weather.com and The Old Farmer's Almanac, are calling for rain in the Midwest, Southeast and Northeast regions, with chances for precipitation in other parts of the country as well.

According to Laurel Harbridge, a Northwestern University political science professor, GOP voters are not typically discouraged by rain. “Republicans are helped by bad weather ... it does harm Democratic prospects.”

See You in November

When your mommy told you to use your words
I don’t think that’s what she meant
You’ve forgotten all about the good ol’ days
When it was patriotic to dissent

Ooh, aren’t you so clever
With those words we’ll always remember
But nothing lasts forever
See you in November

Shufflin’ your feet and you’re moping around
No more Change in your cute man-purse
I can see your future in your Coffee grounds
It’s only going to get much worse

Ooh, aren’t you so clever
With those words we’ll always remember
But nothing lasts forever
See you in November

That’s a nice shirt, it says “I’m with Stupid”
And the arrow’s pointing at your friends
Another swing and miss just like all the others
We all know how it’s going to end

Ooh, aren’t you so clever
With those words we’ll always remember
But nothing lasts forever
