Albany Is Worth a Prayer By Kahryn Jean Lopez
When you go against God's Law......
The Israelites knew God had strictly forbidden homosexuality so the idea of trying to sanctify what God called an 'abomination' with marriage would be doubly offensive. Today we flaunt it among our notables as a perfectly normal bit of nascent social ethics. In fact we are very close to tempting God with our worst behavior and defying him to enter into judgment with us. This is dangerous territory.
Those who don't take God's word seriously cannot see the pattern in which God invariably moves, at the same time it is easy to identify the pattern that the scoffers are taking. Little wonder the writer of John's gospel said "And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not." (Jn 1: 5) Both the lords and the minions of the darkness have always been dumb to what issues from the light.

New York makes gay marriage legal. Excelsior!
New York makes gay marriage legal. Excelsior!
And a quote from the Catholic Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio: (BAD Astronomer forgot the end of his quote, which is the most important one!)
The Important part of the quote was this legislation was not brought up to the people to vote on but thrust upon them by Wall street backers and Gay rights activists.
Only a Godless person could write this:
That statement is almost trivially easy to prove wrong. After all, would the Bishop forbid a man marrying a woman who had a hysterectomy? Or to a post-menopausal woman? Or a woman marrying a man who lost his genitals in combat? And if you argue that those couples could adopt, well then, you’ve proven my point. We can allow gay couples to adopt too. After all, children raised in such a way are just as likely to be happy and well-adjusted as with heterosexual parents.from my favorite Bad Astronomer!
I think he is wrong in that children in those type of relationships have not been studied enough. And he is wrong about the Bishop also. The Catholic church teaches that the union between a Man and a Woman is a vocation to raise a family. If two same sex people marry its is not a vocation. PEROID.
And a quote from the Catholic Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio: (BAD Astronomer forgot the end of his quote, which is the most important one!)
"It is destructive because we fail to view marriage in the context of a vocation: a calling to participate in the great enterprise of forming the next generation. Marriage is reduced to an empty honor," he wrote. "That there was virtually no public debate on the issue and that the entire matter was concluded in just over 30 minutes late on a Friday evening is disgraceful."

Gay Marriage wins this time, but will it succeed?
A great article in NRO by Kathryn Jean Lopez interviewing Maggie Gallagher of NOM here.
A good clip here:
You can't beat Nature basically. God created Man and Woman to procreate. Look it up in Genesis.
Anyway, I'm not giving up on Traditional Marriage and letting the left redefine it to destroy civilization. They are turning the argument around to make us traditional believers the bigot and discriminator.
A good clip here:
Gay marriage was sold to many conservatives as the beginning of that process of marriage renewal. Instead, we are seeing quite clearly that victories for gay marriage lead to renewed calls for accepting family diversity under the powerful new “equality” banner institutionalized in marriage law. (Did you see the LA Times story last week that lauded the Census news on family decline on the grounds that Heather can now have three mommies, thanks to separation and re-partnering among lesbian couples? Heck, in a couple of years she can have six mommies. Families are now wonderfully fluid and to fail to applaud that would be narrow-minded bigotry.)
Our children are being re-educated as we speak.
You can't beat Nature basically. God created Man and Woman to procreate. Look it up in Genesis.
This is a quite powerful movement that is quite serious about shutting down the debate and redefining the Book of Genesis as bigotry. Will they succeed? Maybe in the short or medium term. But in the end, a civilization built against nature falls. Every time.
Anyway, I'm not giving up on Traditional Marriage and letting the left redefine it to destroy civilization. They are turning the argument around to make us traditional believers the bigot and discriminator.

Cathedral in Nigeria destroyed by extremist attacks :: Catholic News Agency (CNA)
Cathedral in Nigeria destroyed by extremist attacks :: Catholic News Agency (CNA)
An extremist Islamic group is being held responsible for a series of recent attacks in Nigeria, which have left 16 dead and destroyed the Catholic Cathedral of St. Patrick in the northern capital city of Maiduguri.
“St. Patrick’s Cathedral was seriously damaged, windows and doors destroyed, the whole building was shaken to its foundations by the violence of the explosion,” said Bishop Oliver Dashe Doeme of Maiduguri.
On June 7, an armed group suspected to be members of Boko Haram set off a bomb at the cathedral as well as two police stations. The damage is the latest in a series of coordinated attacks by Boko Haram, which claims to seek a more widespread application of sharia (Islamic law) in Africa's most populated nation.
The extremist group – with a name that translates to “Western education is a sin” in the Haussa language – has carried out almost daily attacks in and around Maiduguri in recent months. Its targets have been politicians, law enforcement, and religious and traditional rulers opposed to its ideology.
“The situation in Maiduguri is very tense,” Bishop Doeme told Fides news on June 8, recalling that only “two weeks ago, another Catholic church was the target of an attack with explosives, as well as a secondary school.”

Why SSM harms Tradtional Marriage?
From the "Talking Points" on NOM site here:
All I can say is being in a "Tradtional Marriage" has saved my sanity. My husband supports me tremendously. We go to church together as a family each Sunday. Our fath in God keeps us going. We are raising two autistic daughter's who we both are thankful for. WE are blessed.
I don't think I or anyone could raise a family with a same sex partner. Children need both a Female Mother and a Male Father. Biological parents are the best for rasing children. We are tired of being Labled as Bigots.

What’s the harm from SSM? “How can Adam and Steve hurt your marriage?”
A: “Who gets harmed? The people of this state who lose our right to define marriage as the union of husband and wife, that’s who. That is just not right.”
A: “If courts rule that same-sex marriage is a civil right, then, people like you and me who believe children need moms and dads will be treated like bigots and racists.”
“Religious groups like Catholic Charities or the Salvation Army may lose their tax exemptions, or be denied the use of parks and other public facilities, unless they endorse gay marriage."
“Public schools will teach young children that two men being intimate are just the same as a husband and wife, even when it comes to raising kids.”
“When the idea that children need moms and dads get legally stigmatized as bigotry, the job of parents and faith communities trying to transmit a marriage culture to their kids is going to get a lot harder.”
“One thing is for sure: The people of this state will lose our right to keep marriage as the union of a husband and wife. That’s not right.”
