SecDef Rummy, He's my man!

When reading the AP accounts of Donald Rumsfeld speech I get the distilled version and not the exact words he has said. I wanted to know more about the Crocodile quote that was said by Sir Winston Churchill.

Over the next decades, a sentiment took root that contended that if only the growing threats that had begun to emerge in Europe and Asia could be appeased, then the carnage and destruction of then-recent memory of World War I might be avoided. It was a time when a certain amount of cynicism and moral confusion set in among the western democracies. When those who warned about a coming crisis the rise of fascism and Nazism were ridiculed and ignored.

Indeed, in the decades before World War II, a great many argued that the fascist threat was exaggerated or that it was someone else's problem. Some nations tried to negotiate a separate peace even as the enemy made its deadly ambitions crystal clear.

It was, as Churchill observed, a bit like feeding a crocodile, hoping it would eat you last.

There was a strange innocence in views of the world. Someone recently recalled one U.S. Senator's reaction in September 1939, upon hearing that Hitler had invaded Poland to start World War II. He exclaimed:

"Lord, if only I could have talked with Hitler, all this might have been avoided.

Think of that!

[...]

And in every army, there are occasionally bad actors the ones who dominate the headlines today who don't live up to the standards of their oath and of our country.

But you also know that they are a small percentage of the hundreds of thousands of honorable men and women in all theaters in this struggle who are serving with humanity and decency in the face of constant provocation.

And that is important in this long war, where any kind of moral and intellectual confusion about who and what is right or wrong can severely weaken the ability of free societies to persevere.

This is the AP quote:
In unusually explicit terms, Rumsfeld portrayed the administration's critics as suffering from "moral or intellectual confusion" about what threatens the nation's security and accused them of lacking the courage to fight back.

AP here was talking about "the moral or intellectual confusion" but you don't get the whole picture by just derviving what Rummy said. It is a long war and we have to know who is Wrong and who is Right. Our free society is fighting the Good Vs. Evil and we can't appease the Evil because it will come bite us in the foot. We must win over the evil with Victory. That is what Rummy said.

Great article by qando on what Rummy said and what AP wrote here.

Bloggers are the Freedom fighters

From an article on JPost by Caroline Glick:
As each day passes it becomes clear that the responsibility of protecting our nations and societies from internal disintegration has passed to the hands of individuals, often working alone, who refuse to accept the degradation of their societies and so fight with the innovative tools of liberty to protect our way of life. The vigilance of just a handful of bloggers brought us the knowledge of the corruption of our media and the network of global NGOs that we have come to rely on to tell us the "objective" truth.

It is up to all citizens of the free world, who value our freedom to recognize this corruption, applaud the bloggers and join them in refusing to allow these corrupt institutions to cloud our commitment to freedom.

With the growth of the internet and blogging, information can be analyzed at a very quick pace. (Like the Rathergate Memos were found out to be fake within minutes of their release). Little Green Footballs, Powerline, Michelle Malkin, and many many others have been quick to point out the lies that the MSM and other jihadist news agencies (like Reuters for one) are publishing. The citizen blogger is the last stand against this information war. Liberty is ours and we will win this information war. We have to keep up the fight and stick together. Our way of life depends on it.

The Aniversary and the Threat

Captain Ed last paragraph says:
In less than a month, we will observe the fifth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks that killed almost 3,000 people in the US. The terrorists used our airliners as guided missiles, exploiting our own transportation system to kill us by the thousands. This very month, we discovered that they still plot to kill us with our airplanes. One would think that Americans would understand the critical need to garner as much information about our enemies to keep more Americans from dying in terrorist attacks. The reluctance to allow for these common-sense investigative techniques puts lives at risk. At some point, we will have another attack, another bipartisan commission, and another round of scolding over a failure to "connect the dots". If our defenders cannot gain access to the dots, how the hell are they supposed to connect them?

Why are the liberals fighting the NSA program when it is helping us connect the dots and defeat the enemy? They got a Jimmy Carter judge to overturn the NSA program and say that President Bush was iliegally tapping A-Q inside America. I think this is a set up to impeach Bush if the Democrats win in November.

Doomsday Tomorrow?

From Free Republic:

Here are my predictions for August 22 (actually August 21).

I’ve analyzed over 10,000 articles and a list of books since 9/11. Here is my analysis, listed as predictions, as of 1 AM PT 8/21. I don’t reference all my sources in the interest of space.

1. Terrorists will probably attack Israel with WMD on 8/21 or 8/22. Most likely time is on 8/21 between 9 AM and 2 PM US Pacific Time. This time corresponds to the Islamic religious holiday of the night of Rajab 27, which begins at sunset local time (ie around 9 AM PT US). The terrorists/Iran would want the Muslim world to be awake to witness the news, so I would guess around 11 AM US PT is the highest risk (ie 9 PM local time—around 90 mins after sunset).

2. I believe Jerusalem will be attacked with a nuclear bomb. See WSJ, “August 22”, etc. This night is important for all Muslims, Shi’ite and Sunni, for somewhat different reasons. The attack may come from short-range missiles fired in a flurry (hard to defend against) from Syria, Iran, Lebanon, or sea, etc., or from a ground-based/pre-positioned terrorist.

3. Terrorists may strike major US cities near-simultaneously with Israel. Or they may wait for a pretext, see more below.

4. Iran has nuclear weapons and is prepared to use them to attempt to bring about the destruction of US and Israel and reemergence of the 12th imam. See Countdown to Crisis by Timmerman and also Countdown to Terror by Congressman Curt Weldon, etc.

5. Other sources that indicate Iran probably previously acquired working nukes (before 9/11) are reportedly Jane’s Defence, and “Resolution Passed by the JINSA Board of Directors” 20 June 2002 citing Russia officials.

6. Al Qaeda has weaponized anthrax (see Suskind, One Percent Doctrine, etc.), and possibly nuclear weapons.

7. Iran and Al Qaeda are secretly cooperating. Iran was involved in 9/11. See Wall Street Journal “Behind the 9/11 Report” as well as the two books (Timmerman/Weldon) referenced above. The Bush Admin has known much of this info but is keeping quiet about it since the threat is so sensitive. It is difficult to make a public case for war.

8. Iran has previously tried to bait the US and Israel into attacking Iran so that Iran has a pretext to attack with WMD.

9. Israel and the US will attack Iran after Israel is hit/nuked. Iran plans to play innocent but will use the counter-attack on Iran as their pretext. They will play to the world that the attack on Israel was just an American/Jewish conspiracy. See Debka “August 22” article.

10. Iran/Hezbollah and/or Al Qaeda have WMD prepositioned in the US, or plan to quickly position them. The London terrorist plot for August 16 may have been a planned distraction to allow final positioning for the bigger attack.

11. Al Qaeda/Iran’s coming big attack is not too far from the so-called “hoax” that previously appeared in the Asia Times about multiple US cities being nuked, then attacked with biological weapons. They will truly attempt to ruin America. This may have been a legitimate warning, per jihadi practice, from a true high-level member of Al Qaeda. This attack scenario meshes with the facts and Al Qaeda statements since 9/11.

12. Cities most at risk are 1-New York, 2-Washington, 3-Los Angeles. Other cities with higher risk are unclear but probably include the big ones and/or with large Jewish populations: Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Miami, Houston, San Francisco, etc.

13. Russia and China consider the US a rival and to some extent their enemy. Thus they don’t mind helping Iran or watching Iran and the US destroy each other (just as Kissinger said ‘it’s a pity they can’t both lose’ about the Iran-Iraq War).

14. Hopefully Russia or China won’t attempt to strike at a partially destroyed US.

15. North Korea, Iran, Syria, and Venezuela will stick together. Other Muslim countries will be torn and pulled towards the anti-US side. A world war against Muslim (extremists) is likely.

16. Ahmadinejad, and the clerics in Iran, are similar to Hitler in preparing to wipe out Jews, and are as dangerous if not more so.

17. A large part of the US public and media are in denial about the threat of WMD. They “can’t handle the truth”, and are too cynical with government (one in three believe 9/11 was US sponsored).

I hope I’m wrong – and if not, I hope our administration has a good plan.

Good luck, and may God protect all the innocent people at risk from this wicked fascist threat.

Define Swiftboating

"Swiftboating: – Exposing the lies, deceit and fraud of self-glorifying public officials or candidates for public office who exaggerate their military service by lying about their feats of heroism and combat wounds."

Found this on a tee shirt sold here.

Boot Murtha site is here.

The Veteran's for The Truth are campaigning to end Murtha's congressional career. Diana Irey his opponent was on Hardball the other day. The video is here.

Liberman is leading with Republicans

From Quinnipiac here:
"Sen. Lieberman's support among Republicans is nothing short of amazing. It more than offsets what he has lost among Democrats. As long as Lieberman maintains this kind of support among Republicans, while holding onto a significant number of Democratic votes, the veteran Senator will be hard to beat," said Quinnipiac University Poll Director Douglas Schwartz, Ph.D.

"Ned Lamont's Democratic primary win was based on a very small percentage of voters statewide. He must expand beyond this base if he is going to beat Lieberman."

I don't think even with the Nutroots support by MyDD and DailyKos will help Lamont beat Lieberman. Even though I'm a republican and conservative, Sen. Lieberman is right on the war on terror, supports our troops and mission in Iraq. Maybe on the social issues I don't agree, but on the war on terror and national defense he is right.

Protector Unmanned Surface Vessel

The Protector was developed by Rafael in response to emerging terrorist threats against maritime assets, and is the only operational USV that exists today.

"The Protector has performed exceptionally well in the Persian Gulf and Mediterranean," said Steve Kelly, director of BAE Systems Naval Systems in Minneapolis. "This system is ready and available today to meet the needs of our maritime security and defense forces."

The Protector USV was featured at the U.S. Special Operations Command trade show in Tampa Bay, Fla., in June, and will be demonstrated in Little Creek, Va, San Diego, and Washington, D.C. in the coming months. The demonstrations will highlight the system's ability to be integrated with several different mission modules, showcase the boat's speed and stealthy maneuverability, and perform surveillance and intercept missions against realistic targets.

"We're excited to introduce this unmanned system to the U.S.," said Sean Patton, senior manager of Lockheed Martin's LCS Business Development team. "The Protector will provide Sailors with the capabilities they need to complete their missions more efficiently. The Protector can be the first line of defense, checking-out vessels of interest at arm's length, while our personnel and capital assets are held at a safe distance."

Israel will move ahead in the ground war

Yoni got the word here. Olmert says ok to enter the ground war. Let's hope they are swift and victorious.
Even though the UN will vote today on a settlement no way will Hezbollah obey it. To them this is a hunda, a pause to gain strenght and rearm with weapons. The threat is still there and will be closer to the US if Israel fails to wipe Hezbollah out. Other than A-Q, the Hezbos are the second most group to kill Americans.(about 800?)

My prayers go to Israel today. Strength to Israel, Strength to US, may our troops fight to victory in the war of terror.

Why do people join the Armed Services?

Since the Lieberman black face debacle on HuffPo and the illustrious Jane at Firedoglake I've been checking her site out. The late night post focused on 200 young Army recruits at an airport while the writer is slurping her ice coffee dregs.
Recruits. As I watched, a short, muscular-looking woman in BTUÂ’s began to marshall them into two separate lines, pointed at the doorways to the security checkpoints and the terminals beyond. I realized that I was watching these kids live the last moments of their civilian lives.

I looked at their beautiful hair and skin, their long, straight limbs, their bright, curious eyes and I wondered how many of them would end up on a plane to Germany with burns over 80 percent of their bodies. How many wonÂ’t even get that far?

George Bush and good Republicans like Joe Lieberman donÂ’t want to admit that the War in Iraq is a failure. TheyÂ’re afraid to do anything that might Show Weakness In An Election Year. (And you see how well thatÂ’s working out for Joe Lieberman.) Every day they postpone facing up to the mess theyÂ’ve made, more soldiers die. DIE.

Not. Ever. Coming. Home.

Ever.

Honey, I'm glad your daddy came home in one piece from Vietnam, thanks for his service. He had to go, the draft was in force. These Army recruits are Vol-en-teers, they are going because they want to fight the war. I'm proud they want to serve their county. You know why they are doing it. To save your lpuny punny ass so you can drink your five dollar iced coffee bitching Lieberman is a Bushie (however, he a dem and a liberal! He ain't a Republican at all!) More soldiers died in Vietnam per month than the total dead so far in the current war. We showed weakness when Clinton pulled the troops out of Somila. Bin-Ladden saw this as an advantage. Clinton did nothing when the Cole was bombed showing more weakness.

President Bush has shown much strength, not weakness. He has supported the troops 100%. My husband is proud to serve under him. Even though my hubby in in VTU he can still be called up to serve and would do it in an instant. I give him 100% support. We have two girls and they know daddy is in the Navy. I tell them he might have to go fight in the war. They know about 9/11 and saw the WTC buildings fall and the people jumping out. They know evil is out there wanting to kill them and destroy there way of life. (Remember, you are free so you can drink your Iced coffee). As a miliary family we are willing to sacrifice our daddy and husband to save the free world. Those kids going to basic training and on to their assignments know what they are doing. They want to fight evil so we can live our lifes free from danger.

From Monday Night Football to Hannity and Colmes?

Hannity & Colmes adds Miller to show
Los Angeles Times

Comedian and actor Dennis Miller is joining Fox News as a contributor to "Hannity & Colmes" this autumn, according to a network executive. Miller, who did a stint on "Hannity & Colmes" in 2003 and then had his own eponymous show on CNBC, will begin weighing in on news and politics beginning Sept. 13. He also will provide commentary on the Fox News Web site.

Meanwhile, CNN has hired as a contributor Alina Fernandez, the exiled daughter of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro and a critic of her father's policies. Fernandez, who left Cuba in 1993, is based in Miami.

I love Dennis Miller! He's no Lib at all!

Where is the Jumba Juice in Crawford?

Tony Snow's comment on Cindy Sheehan and her "Liquid Diet" here:

White House spokesman Tony Snow has said that neither Bush nor his staff plan to meet with Sheehan.

"I would advise her to bring water, Gatorade or both," Snow said when asked about Sheehan during a press briefing Friday. "Honestly, when you're talking about the kind of issues that we're talking about, Cindy Sheehan hasn't risen to the level of staff meetings at this point."

Tony you have your head on straight!

Cindy is in Crawford again making a stink. This time she's on her own property bought with Casey's insurance money (or so she says). The Crawford House does not want her back. Too Bad!

Teens caught in VA Laptop burglary

The laptop that was stolen at a VA employees home has been turned in and the burglars caught. The 19 years old did not know about the Vets data. I hope we dodged the bullet on this one. (Since Many vets and family members are affected.)

Blogstorm on Reuters

Over the weekend the Blogs were cracking the fake photo on Reuters.
INDC has a great overlay of the original photo and the fake version here.

Here is the article in the JPost on the Reuters fakery here.

The photograph by Adnan Hajj, which shows plumes of smoke rising from downtown Beirut after an IAF bombing, appeared to have been doctored to show more intense smoke and destruction over the city.

More on LGF and the blogs role here:
The US-based blog LittleGreenFootballs.com first wrote about the controversy and included a series of detailed animations drawing attention to doctored elements of the photograph.

"This Reuters photograph shows blatant evidence of manipulation. Notice the repeating patterns in the smoke; this is almost certainly caused by using the Photoshop "clone" tool to add more smoke to the image," wrote Charles Johnson a regular contributor to LittleGreenFootballs.

I like Little Green Footballs, Charles is great! I have to get Glenn Reynolds book, Army of Davids. The Army of Davids were in force and I'm glad they were on top of the fakery of the MSM. This war is a propaganda war and the Reuters photographer is in cahoots with the enemy Hezbollah. He was also in the propaganda of Qana and the green helmet man.
Retraction at Reuters here:
UPDATE: Reuters has retracted all of Adnan Hajj's photos in their database (over 900 pics). HT Michelle Malkin here. Seems they want to exam the photos and stop the bloggers from getting to them to critique. Well Michelle has a list of bloggers who have already analyzed the faker's work. Great job in kicking the MSM A** on this one! Heh.
